I personally have nothing against religion besides Jehovah's Witness who goes door to door and the individuals who say everything is a sin when its not their buisness. The majority of extremly religious people feel you need to believe in God if you don't but they don't wanna hear it when you tell them your perfectly happy not believing. I choose science and evolotion over the Bible because it has more facts to back it up. Science has multiple sources, religion people just say "the Bible says _______".

I do believe that for some people believing in a God helps them overcome things, I just personally think its all psychological.

I find that a lot of people who are fairly religious tend to be that way because they believe in the lone sanctity and divinity of their particular deity. I think this is a carry-over from a societal perspective that has dominated much of human history (since the advent of agricultural society) of focusing on the differences among people. While each person can make a unique contribution, I find that we make much better progress if we can focus on the things that we have in common. I am what you might call a religious Christian, in that I pray to God every day and spend time every day reading the Bible. My beliefs and my faith are very important to me, and at the same time I encourage open debate. Perhaps what it boils down to is this: many people believe in something they "can't" perceive directly with their five senses. Having someone challenge that is difficult because of the lack of "physical" evidence. The notion that someone is merely challenging a faith statement should not necessarily be a threat. This type of discussion should serve as a way for both people involved to explore what they believe and why. This can only encourage growth for both.

Since they operate from the assumption that they already possess the real truth, they see no reason to listen. In reality, they do not want to know the truth.

If they are incapable of realizing that the Bible is no more than the mythology and folktales of illiterate goat herders that knew nothing of the physical universe and natural world, then they are incapable real thought.

Even a child would be skeptical of an imaginary being that can never be seen, or a story about putting every life form on earth onto one wooden boat with no real power source built by one old man and then sailing to safety when the entire planet is flooded.

They not only psychologically live 2000 years in the past, they live in a world and universe that never existed. They are as scientifically illiterate as the semi-nomadic Semitic tribes that invented the fairy tales they believe are real. Their understanding of the world they live in has made no forward progress for millennia.

It would be egotistical to assume that we are the only intelligent life form in this vast universe.God is real.He really did all that stuff you do not believe. He is not one of those hypocritical Bible thumpers,he is God the creator,Man has misinterpreted many things about the Bible and there are some parts excluded,I am sure. But when you align yourself with him personally and realize that he loves you and is helping you through this life,it is wonderful.I do not want to believe that I came from a monkey.I like the fact that I was created by a super intelligent being that I will be with after this life is over.It is psychological very much so but so spiritual at the same time.Everyone was born into this life for a reason that God only knows, but all will find out one day.I do not go to church but do believe in God.I have a relationship with him and he is my heavenly father, who loves me and cares for me just like a real Dad would. All his creations are perfect and wonderful, man will never be able to duplicate anything even close to what he produced here.No matter how much science is behind it.We can not even find cures for diseases with all our great knowledge of thousands of years. If evolution was a fact, then why do the Jews still need to circumcise their young males, why or when will one be born circumcised?Life here is just too short to debate this great question of life,so I will believe what comes naturally to me and let everyone else fight the battle for the answer.Peace!!

A common misconception is that Jehovah's Witnesses go from door-to-door because they feel it is their duty to "give their opinion" to a householder, or get him to "convert". In fact, they use only the bible, and Jehovah's Witnesses would go from door-to-door even if there were no hope that anyone would change their religion, or even if no one would listen to them!

That is because Jesus Christ specifically assigned the house-to-house ministry to the Christian congregation, with no regard for specific results.

(Luke 10:1,2) After these things the Lord designated seventy others and sent them forth by twos in advance of him into every city and place to which he himself was going to come. 2 Then he began to say to them: “The harvest, indeed, is great, but the workers are few. Therefore beg the Master of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest.

Jehovah's Witnesses are trained to direct attention to the bible, and move on when their message is unwanted. Since each congregation in the United States tries to call at every home in its territory at least twice each year, there is strong motivation for them to move on where little interest is shown. Also, the Scriptures help the Witnesses to expect little interest from most:

(2 Timothy 4:3-5) For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching ...and they will turn their ears away from the truth, whereas they will be turned aside to false stories. You, though, keep your senses in all things, suffer evil, do the work of an evangelizer, fully accomplish your ministry.

I've noticed that the pushy religious people are usually mentally deficient. Smart religious people will usually have a dialogue with you and will listen to both sides. Ignorant people are always arrogant.

"Hi I'm stupid and I can only see one possible way to live because my (Mom, friend, whatever) introduced me to Jesus" There is no way that ignorant person is ever going to change their minds.

There's one guy I work with like this. Everything he does is "guided by Jesus". The other day he sold his car because Jesus told him to. He's the laziest, most arrogant person I know. But he shields himself in religion so he doesn't have to think for himself. Ignorance.

They want to lecture, they do not want to have a conversation. A conversation is a two-way street. The potential for a message from the alleged devil being delivered to a pure christian is untenable, so they do not listen, and only preach.

They preach because they are told to preach the word of their god to unbelievers, to witness to them.

Preach without listening....it does sound like arrogance...and this is often the case.

it's ego they want to feel like a big deal most of the time so now they preach and can pat themselves on the back without actually doing anything.....waste of time in my book " The road to perdition has ever been accompanied by lip service to an ideal. "

Not all "religious" people do give their opinion and than not wannar hear yours. Please be fair to people out that do value you and who you are because that is how a Christian treats others whether that person is a Christian or not.

The goal of Christianity is to spread the Gospel to every nation and to everyone on the earth.
We are concerned because we really do not want to see anyone go to hell.
Saying that, I do respect your right to believe whatever you want and to express your opinion.
God Bless.
