When someone points out the instances of commanded genocide or nonsensical murders in the Old Testament, why is it that Christians respond, "That's in the Old Testament, and we don't follow that," or, "Jesus would never say that."

What's my point, you may ask? My point is this: these stories are contained in a book or books you claim to be divinely inspired. However, you also claim that you don't follow them. So why do you keep this books in your Bible?

Col 3:22-24
22 Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything, not only while being watched and in order to please them, but wholeheartedly, fearing the Lord. 23 Whatever your task, put yourselves into it, as done for the Lord and not for your masters, 24 since you know that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward; you serve the Lord Christ.

I used to hear people say that when you die it was blackness, or nothingness, I know that's not true, and I haven't run into many people who believe this lately. So what do you think?

mine- i was in a Anasazi type stone building, for some reason this was our school, but i walked into a class room and picked up this penny. i accidently dropped it, causing a teacher to flip out on me, i was arrested. i was in a jail cell, inside the school, the principal woman came in and told me that they sentanced me to death and walked out. i have no clue why, but i left the cell on my own, just walked right out, and started wandering around te school complaining to other people of how stupid this was, after i did this for a while, i returned to my cell when moments later they came in, shackled me to this other kid that i know from school, we were escorted to a wall with an electrical current running htrough it, he started freaking out going on a rampage, i woke up after this.

i couldnt have made that up if i tried. whats you wierdest dream?

Num 31:14-1814Moses became angry with the officers of the army, the commanders of thousands and the commanders of hundreds, who had come from service in the war. 15Moses said to them, ‘Have you allowed all the women to live? 16These women here, on Balaam’s advice, made the Israelites act treacherously against the Lord in the affair of Peor, so that the plague came among the congregation of the Lord. 17Now therefore, kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman who has known a man by sleeping with him. 18But all the young girls who have not known a man by sleeping with him, keep alive for yourselves.

Currently the Pledge of Allegiance declares that the US is "... one nation, under God ..."

Would Christians be willing to recite the pledge if it said the following:

"... one nation, under NO God ..."?

Alternatively, would Christians be willing to compromise by just removing the God reference altogether, so that we can say the pledge altogether?

What about hormone imbalances? Hormones are definitely chemicals. Do Scientologists believe there's no such thing as a hormone imbalance? So... IS there such a thing as a hormone imbalance?

Don't be a jerk and don't copy and paste a bunch of crap. I just wanna know what Scientologists believe and if they're right.

Isaiah 13:13-16
13Therefore I will make the heavens tremble,
and the earth will be shaken out of its place,
at the wrath of the Lord of hosts
on the day of his fierce anger.
14Like a hunted gazelle,
or like sheep with no one to gather them,
all will turn to their own people,
and all will flee to their own lands.
15Whoever is found will be thrust through,
and whoever is caught will fall by the sword.
16Their infants will be dashed to pieces
before their eyes;
their houses will be plundered,
and their wives ravished.

I of course am referring to cigarettes which contain tar and crud, and beer which is nothing but troll sweat.

I have and do all the time!

I have dreams about people and then meet them, and already know things about their lives.

Sometimes when I meet a person for the first time I know things about their pasts, presents, and futures if they continue on the path they are on - or if they don't.

Deut 20:10-18
10 When you draw near to a town to fight against it, offer it terms of peace. 11If it accepts your terms of peace and surrenders to you, then all the people in it shall serve you in forced labour. 12If it does not submit to you peacefully, but makes war against you, then you shall besiege it; 13and when the Lord your God gives it into your hand, you shall put all its males to the sword. 14You may, however, take as your booty the women, the children, livestock, and everything else in the town, all its spoil. You may enjoy the spoil of your enemies, which the Lord your God has given you. 15Thus you shall treat all the towns that are very far from you, which are not towns of the nations here. 16But as for the towns of these peoples that the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance, you must not let anything that breathes remain alive. 17You shall annihilate them—the Hittites and the Amorites, the Canaanites and the Perizzites, the Hivites and the Jebusites—just as the Lord your God has commanded, 18so that they may not teach you to do all the abhorrent things that they do for their gods, and you thus sin against the Lord your God.

If so watch the Naked Archeologist today on the History Channel. It's a show called "Jesus" the early years. I watched it earlier and it should be on around 5 central time, 6pm eastern. I would check your listings. It made me think alot about what I had previously believed about Jesus.
