Deut 25:11-12
11 If men get into a fight with one another, and the wife of one intervenes to rescue her husband from the grip of his opponent by reaching out and seizing his genitals, 12 you shall cut off her hand; show no pity.

Actually that scripture is loving on God's part.

The Mosaic Law plainly stated an "eye for an eye" when it came to someone deliberately trying to injure someone else. (Deu 19:21)This is the only exception to the rule. God has a high regard for life and reproductive powers (Exodus 21:22-23) Rather than her husband's genitals being cut off, it was the wife's hand.

Some type of retribution was taken; since the woman was owned by a husband, his right to have children, and carry on his family line, was still kept intact. This was loving and merciful on God's part.

As Christians are no longer under the Mosaic Law, this ruling no longer applies to us. (Colossians 2:13-14) If something like this happened in the U.S. that person would probably be sued, at the very least.

Exodus 21:22 “If men harm a woman with child so that here fruit depart her…they should pay a fine as determined by a judge.”

He seems very forgiving of people who harm a fetus. I´d say that´s kind of loving

Again a law of retribution... It's specific form is not a matter of salvation, therefore not the "truth" being expressed from this passage.

Read Dei Verbum... oh, but wait... You'll interpret it like a fundamentalist like you do scripture.

Oh yeah? Any one who tries that with me loses their hand, genitals and head. I'll deal with God later.

Moses was laying down the rules as they were given to him according to God. It's Old Testament. Jesus came to fulfill the law so these are no longer necessary.

God did not write ANY of the bible.

Apparently the man who wrote that part was a little sensitive..

Hi!
If you skip the "Why" that begins your question, I think you will be happier. It will then read, "Did a loving God write this?"

maybe he was having a bad day. maybe he'd had that happen to him and it Really ticked him off. maybe this was super common back then and people were sick and tired of it. who knows? it's a crazy book. it should be read for historical sake, not religious.
