If you believe he knew he would resurrect and rise triumphant into Heaven amid the jubilation of a billion angels, then you must believe it wasn't much of a sacrifice.

The idea of a great sacrifice for our sins is fundamental to your religion.

But you can't have it both ways. If you believe he knew, then you must see that he was only pretending when he said "Father let this cup pass..." And who was he praying to anyway?

God has stated that thou shall not lie. But i can think of a situation where lying would be morally acceptable such as if it was WW2 and i was hiding jews from the nazi and the nazi asked me if i had a jew in my house. It is easy to tell that telling the truth would be a bad thing to do. But thou shalt not lie, and no sin is greater than another sin. The sin i would have committed while lying would be equal to the sin of giving the jews to the nazi. If in this situation where do i draw the line? Do i listen to my heart? If the bible is just a guide and there are times that i should listen to my heart. Then what about homosexuality? Couldn't the same be said for that? It too is a sin much like lying but those people have harmed no one, should i treat them like they have commited a crime? I know that is morally wrong and shouldn't be? So do i follow my heart or the word of God? Lemme finish plz ran outta words hehe. THX FOR your patience

Just out of curiousity, I would like to know why this religion forbids blood transfusions. I know there is a case going on about the sextuplets who were seized from their parents by the government, (which must of have been REALLY terrifying) because they refused the treatment, and I want to have more information. Thanks to whomever can help me.

Did he write it to his son?

"My son, walk not thou in the way with them; refrain thy foot from their path: For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood."
-Proverbs 1:15-16

The word thou, only applies to addressing one person. Just as, Paul addressed, Timothy in the epistles of Timothy, in the New Testament. Like: "Thou Timothy", i.e: "You Timothy".

(And Yes, I already know that the bible was written for the whole world...I'm just speaking of that certain moment in time.)

If you don't know what you are talking about, please save it :O).

Someone said each finger on your hand symbolizes each of the five gifts (Apostle....Prophet....Evangelist...Pastor....Teacher) listed in Ephesians 4:11. What do you think about this, and why ???

I heard
Thumb= apostle
Forefinger= prophet (or evangelist)
Index finger= evangelist (or prophet)
Ring finger = pastor
Little finger = teacher

Just curious....

I have a first name, otherwise know as a Christian name, but what is the origin of this term?

Also, in the assumption that it is related to Christ (as in Christianity), then what is the comparable name in say Muslim faith environments where Christ as I understand it has no religious influence? Do they simply refer to a 'first name' or is their a similar term to 'Christian name'?

Thanks

I'm sick of the Christian right on Yahoo answers. There are other religions in the world. Why can't you accept this and let others believe what they want. Talk about closed minded.

I don't understand how anyone can believe the Bible/Qu'ran/Torah etc and yet not accept the other texts as equally valid. None of them, in my opinion, have any more evidence than the others. Is it just personal preference? Culture?
