I may be ignorant about the current candidates, but I would vote for Hillary Clinton regardless of anthing about her beliefs or non beliefs in regards to religion or sexual preferences. If I am wrong, please specify.

I would absolutely vote for an atheist if I believed they were the stronger candidate. There is "supposed" to be seperation of church and state - though I don't believe there is. I personally don't believe that a candidates religious beliefs should even be of concern in the presidential office (or any other position in government). Nor should religious beliefs be brought into debates on issues.
Oh, and Hi Uncle Wayne! : ) I hope you are having a good day today!

I don't think politics and religion should be mixed .. eg - do you want 2B a president or a priest.. They use religion as a safety blanket.. I'm in Aust and it's the same , I say if we had Wiccan leaders world wide there would be a huge change which would benefit everyone, especially those who are the poorest on our planet.. True Wiccans have learnt 2 live without EGO , pity about a lot of sad and sorry poor excuses of the human race I have dealt with

I would perhaps, but not Hillary. She herself said on national TV that and I quote when she was asked what the BIGGEST threat on the US was. She simply answered "Religous People." I guess I am a big danger now? Well, considering I haven't even gotten a parking ticket before, and yet I am the biggest threat to the US, thats weird. (forgive the sarcasim) But honestly, how can I be a threat to her? To all of us? I am an Irish woman, who has been american sense I was 3 months. How can I be a threat? No, I won't have that "type" of an atheist in office. Not if she conisders me, the biggest threat to all of us. And techically, if she is so much against my belief, than she is not really Atheist, or worthy of being a president...exspecially if she looks so harshly on another human. But if it were a different Atheist, perhaps:-)
God bless
Kat

The only experience I've had with people who claim to be Atheists has been on this site, so I'd be reluctant to vote for someone who apparently believes religion causes war.

We need a leader who understands, or is, at the very least, respectful of people's faith.

i look at the issues as a whole, not a particular party, the problem is that is someone is an atheist more than likely they will be against what a believer in christ follows as the way, so by looking at the issues it would be a big no. i look at who has the most integrity and moral value as a whole i can care less what party he comes from.

To a certain extent; How can we ever really know for sure who is really what? Supposedly if they happened to get as far as the White House; How could we believe anything except scandals or bribery? As long they aren't a hypocrite why not?

If I thought that s/he was the best candidate for the job, if I believed that s/he had a good moral center and understood what needed to be done do to the job, and if I felt that s/he wouldn't use his/her power to force his/her beliefs onto the nation in general, I wouldn't have a problem with it.

Which US politician professes to be atheist? That would be political suicide, like saying that Iran isn't evil, or that there are places in the world where people live better than "us".

Oh for sure, if they have a strong platform, I'd vote for anyone who would bring the country out of this wonderful rut we're in.

I would never vote for an atheist. I realize that people are deceiving, but I would try to vote for the one who seems most Christian. God can speak to a Christian and if they are in tune to God, they will hear. An atheist doesn't have that privilege.
