Did he write it to his son?

"My son, walk not thou in the way with them; refrain thy foot from their path: For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood."
-Proverbs 1:15-16

The word thou, only applies to addressing one person. Just as, Paul addressed, Timothy in the epistles of Timothy, in the New Testament. Like: "Thou Timothy", i.e: "You Timothy".

(And Yes, I already know that the bible was written for the whole world...I'm just speaking of that certain moment in time.)

If you don't know what you are talking about, please save it :O).

When Solomon wrote, he was doubtless writing to his son; however the writer of the New Testament Letter to the Hebrews, recognizing the writer to be under the influence of the Holy Spirit, stated that the words written were by God the Father for the sake of all who would become Sons of God through faith in Jesus Christ:
"and you have forgotten the exhortation which is addressed to you as sons,
"My Son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord..." " (Hebrews 12:5; Proverbs 3:11; see also Galatians 3:26)

What Books Did Solomon Write

Under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, Solomon "writes" his Proverbs to his son(s).

The "author" of the Bible is the Holy Spirit. So, God uses Solomon to write to His children, and not just his children.

The writings in Proverbs are written as though the writer and author are writing to their children from the view of an absentee parent. The similarities then between God and Solomon become apparent.

Proverbs is a collection of songs/poems/sayings written throughout King Solomon's era. Some he wrote, others were apparently written for him.

But yes, some of them were written for his son I'm sure, but when he's saying "my son" I think he means more like we would refer to a much younger person as "child". In other words, it's a sort of general term.

These were memoirs! Just like who does a poet write poems for. Everyone! Once someone has a gift they want to share it with others!

It was written for you, me, and everyone else. The entire Bible is the holy word of God written by inspiration of the Holy Spirit to instruct all of humanity. That is why each word should be taken personally. That is also why we each need a personal relationship with God through His son Jesus.
