Isaiah 13:13-16
13Therefore I will make the heavens tremble,
and the earth will be shaken out of its place,
at the wrath of the Lord of hosts
on the day of his fierce anger.
14Like a hunted gazelle,
or like sheep with no one to gather them,
all will turn to their own people,
and all will flee to their own lands.
15Whoever is found will be thrust through,
and whoever is caught will fall by the sword.
16Their infants will be dashed to pieces
before their eyes;
their houses will be plundered,
and their wives ravished.

God was describing what was going to happen to Babylon bc of their sin. He says He will stir up the Medes, and they will do these things. God uses evil people to punish other evil people.

God is loving and merciful, but He is also just. God requires justice, and the Babylonians had a lot of sin that God said He would punish.

Yep, that pretty well describes what happened to the Israelites when they were attacked by other nations. They could have chosen to remain under God's protection, but they decided that they knew better than He did.

They turned to worshipping the false gods of the nations around them, and they were invaded repeatedly. They suffered the very things that Isaiah had written, trying to warn them.

Sounds a lot like what's going on in this country right now.

through the prophet Isaiah, yes. You may not think these verses sound too loving but if you read the book of Isaiah in context you will get the whole picture. You cannot take one verse like that and draw a conclusion about the nature of God.

That would be the day of Gods wrath. It is written about in Revelation also.

Also, that is a day of Gods judgment.

God is a God of Love, but there is coming a time when God deals with those who destroy Almighty God's creation, Prophets & Saints.

I believe the day of the Lord's wrath is still ahead of us and will happen when the beast & false prophet rule for a season.

things like this were written right when civilization first appeared in the b.c. times and along with that came old traditions and laws for example a lot of your native tribes have the same laws " sacrifices to the gods " and if you dont do it there will be doom and devastation, as time goes on and civilization becomes more civilized you will see less and less of it and more of a modern way of thinking

The loving God was telling them why to stay with him and not turn to false Gods. They were to know what would happen to them if they worshiped false Gods. He gave them a choice to return to him or trust false Gods for protection and told them what would happen if they were to give him up as their God and trust to the other Gods they were worshiping.

People call the Bible "the word of the living God", so even if God did not write it personally, believers say that all scripture is divinely inspired by him. It sounds awful and hateful. And if this is not divinely inspired, then why is it in the Bible? Believers say that the Bible is inerrant and they embrace all parts of it.

Dear skep,

You realize that God commands us not to judge individuals (Matthew 7:1-5). Are you going to attempt to judge God?

The only thing I recall God specifically writing was the 10 commandements.

Everything else comes from men like you and me.

That is when people lose faith and can't find 10 people who do believe and have faith. It refers to Genesis Chapter 17-19.
