i feel very disappointed as well as sad when some people describe that Theravada Buddhism(the way of elders) is also can be called hinayana(lesser vehicles). i don't know who first did make this statement. and, when i see the questions: which country has the most real Theravada Buddhist? , i read the answers carefully and deeply. None of the answers can satisfy me. people from thailand says thai really have. the same goes for sri lankan, laos and such.
yup, followers of Theravada Buddhism have some weakness. For instance, many buddhist in myanmar pray not only to Buddha statue, the pay respects to some statues which are orginally derived from hinduism. Theravada Buddhism generally means taking refugees in Buddha, original Dhamma taught by Buddha, and sanga who maintain and protect original Damma. Theravada Buddhists don't have to pray others apart from these three.
