i feel very disappointed as well as sad when some people describe that Theravada Buddhism(the way of elders) is also can be called hinayana(lesser vehicles). i don't know who first did make this statement. and, when i see the questions: which country has the most real Theravada Buddhist? , i read the answers carefully and deeply. None of the answers can satisfy me. people from thailand says thai really have. the same goes for sri lankan, laos and such.

yup, followers of Theravada Buddhism have some weakness. For instance, many buddhist in myanmar pray not only to Buddha statue, the pay respects to some statues which are orginally derived from hinduism. Theravada Buddhism generally means taking refugees in Buddha, original Dhamma taught by Buddha, and sanga who maintain and protect original Damma. Theravada Buddhists don't have to pray others apart from these three.

for the qusetions i mentioned above, my answer is :
5 Theravada Buddhism countries have their own unique way and approach to Buddhism. all of them are good and real in differently. I hope all Theravada Buddhists unite and make Theravada Buddhism more clearer and disturb some bad beliefs from mahayana buddhism, hinduism, which some Theravada Buddhists accept although they say they r Theravada Buddhists.

and, Theravada Buddhism is also really really different from mahayana Buddhism and hinduism.

It is right what you say, Theravada Buddhism has some weakness because of the different interpretations of the Dharma and I agree with you that it is different from Hinduism and Mahayana ....I like your plea for unity for all.

I am a Theravada Buddhist and follow the Thai tradition as my wife is Thai. Ease your troubled mind my friend and find peace in that there are many traditions and they all follow the Lord Buddha's Dharma in their way for the benefit of all and may we all find happiness in the Three Refuges and the Eightfold Noble Path on which we all travel together.

Some may be misled by falseness but they will find the true path if they adhere to the principles which the Lord Buddha gave us and become enlightened for the benefit of others for with the awakening of awareness comes the consequence of compassion which the Lord Buddha had in abundance and shared with us.

All beings are on the Path to enlightenment and all have the Noble Buddha Nature within to giude them and all will reach the other side of the stream as they evolve and hopefully bring the benefits of awareness to all of Life.

Peace my friend from another human being....do not be troubled by the impermanence of Life but rejoice in Life's diversity and witness Life's abundance...your compassion for others is admirable and obvious, some may not appreciate it but I do, thank you for sharing it for our benefit..

Peace my good friend from another being to you....

My fellow dhamma brother,
I answered the question you referred to by saying that no one can claim to practice the undeviated pure Theravada Buddhism, because this will imply that others are on the wrong path.
As a Theravada Buddhist,I learned meditation from Myanmar monks(Pak Au as well as Mahasi Saydaw tradition),undergo my novice training under my Thai master and learned the dhamma and abhidhamma under Sir Lankan monks and Prof.Mehm Tin Mon(from Myanmar),and went on a tour of Cambodia with Cambodian monks.
Therefore, for anyone claiming that their Theravada practices is pure is pure ignorance.
