Has anybody here ever heard of the word ecumenical? Has anyone here ever practiced ecumenicalism? It goes far beyond just Christianity. Judging from what I see here on Yahoo Answers it does not appear that to many people understand or practice the word. What do you think. Can we be ecumenical here on Yahoo?

I would like to know a what a mormon lds person thinks on demons and ghosts. I am mormon/lds and I didnt believe in demons until weird things started happening at my old house. My dad also woke up one morning with a man standing over him, with the meanest look on his face. What is the purpose of demons? Can they really go too far and hurt people? Why would God allow that?

After my last question about Christian morals (apparently we don't have any) in the Constitution, several people pointed out that 'seperation of church and state' is not found in the constitution. That is correct - it was in a private letter written by Jefferson. However, the First Amendment DOES say, 'Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.'

This phrase means that the gov't shall not recognize any religion officially or endorse any religion. It also means that it won't get in the way of religion (as long as the free exercise of religion doesn't violate other parts of the law, including the first part of that sentance).

So while the PHRASE 'seperation of church and state' doesn't appear in the constitution, it is clearly the IDEA behind the first sentance of the First Amendment.

Do you agree? Disagree? Why?

Okay. It's starting to get old having to see stuff like "accept Christ" and other similar crap after all the christian people answer a question.
Another thing that's getting more and more frequent is their attempt to convince yahoo that we're being abusive. I asked someone for a link and their answer got deleted for abuse. What's their problem? I think some christian reported it because the link was for a secular humanist group...idk what their problem is. Isn't anyone else annoyed by these things?

Jesus Questioned on the Judgment Day, Allah will question Jesus who will be among the other apostles. Jesus will be asked if he told mankind to worship him and his mother as two gods besides Allah. Jesus will strongly deny it (5:115-117).

Those words on our money and "Under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance were added in 1954.

Don't you know that?

Okay, so I've recently been asked, "What has God done in your life?" by an atheist friend. Having been raised Catholic in the Bible Belt, I have always been surrounded by Christianity and its ideas-never really questioning what I believed, and I was pretty into church too. But as I thought about the question it's easy to say that all of the good things that have happened have happened because of God. But it's just as easy to see that what I've achieved, I've worked hard for. Now I wonder a lot about what I believe, and I got involved with this church group that does comm service not long before this conversation with my friend. It's also a really dogmatic group that meets and prays the rosary daily, which I dislike, but the service is rewarding. But I guess what I've questioned most is what if I think my religious upbringing was good as establishing values but now I just feel like I am a good person...if I continue to be this good person w/or w/o God-what then?

Why do many Christians think Harry Potter is bad for Children?
I read a story about a young wiccan girl that was tormented by her classmates who trapped her in a corner chanting "Jesus loves you," and sang hyms to her in the hall between classes. The torment and loss of friends was enough to cause her to hang herself. But of course lets not forget the typical harassment from other Christians to non believers. Oh, and that little thing called the Inquisition? Yeah, that was a movement by the church, and alot of people died. Plus of course the witch trials in europe.
I'm not saying the Bible or all Christians are bad, but why is it if a kid reads Harry Potter or plays Dungeons and Dragons or Magic the Gathering, then becomes involved in the occult, it's because those are the tools of Satan, but when people DIE because of Christianity or the Bible, that's just human error? Can't Satan use the Bible for his purposes as well?
