Has anybody here ever heard of the word ecumenical? Has anyone here ever practiced ecumenicalism? It goes far beyond just Christianity. Judging from what I see here on Yahoo Answers it does not appear that to many people understand or practice the word. What do you think. Can we be ecumenical here on Yahoo?

Dude there are many people not qualified to be theologian, most it appears answer here on Yahoo...........
For those before you criticize ecumenicalism rember what Hans Kung said:
There can be no continued existence of human societ without a global ethic of peace between nations. There can be no peace among nations without peace among religions. There can be no peace among religons without dialogue between religions.
So do you not see the need for ecumenicalism?

I wish we *could* be ecumenical here on Yahoo!Answers, Cathy, but even after a few weeks I can see that it won't happen--well, not for a lot of people. But it's good practice in ignoring the stuff that's of no value to us, and learning to pick out the stuff from people (of all religions) who really do answer earnestly and thoughtfully. The existence of the trolls doesn't negate the existence of the others, right? FWIW, I've been to ecumenical holiday services, and always enjoy them immensely.

ecumenical here?
NO!
The original idea of Q & A was to answer asked questions.
It has, sadly, become a platform for DEBATE.
No room for ecumenicalism here.

since some of the people answering the question don't seem to know the meaning of the word i shall clue them in this way they can make educated answers.I personally do not think we all can agree on enough items for it to work.

It is basically a fantasy. People have their own private beliefs, and evidence of incorrectness is routinely ignored. So any sort of universality of belief is a non-happening.
