That war and injustice in the name of God and country are okay and justifiable.

Believe it or not this does have to do with the creation myth. The myth that human beings are so powerful we have the ability to destroy and create and reshape the universe how we want at our own will mindless of the laws of the universe or morality.

Natural selection, the Big Bang, ect. None are really 'modern' but then we aren't as keen on myths as we once were!!

My vote goes to M-theory and the brane theories.

"Our visible, four-dimensional universe is entirely restricted to a brane inside a higher-dimensional space, called the bulk. Interactions with the bulk, and possibly with other branes, can influence our brane and thus introduce effects not seen in more standard cosmological models. The origin of the big bang could have occurred when two parallel branes touched."

For those who subscribe to Occam's Razor, doesn't the theorized existence of multiple branes that haven't even been proven to exist seem like an unnecessary complication?

I dunno, to me it sounds just as reasonable (or as unreasonable, depending on your point of view) as some other ideas of "where we all came from"...

The big bang theory. Honestly that's the answer you're looking for. I have no idea why the rest of the answers are so dumb.
