Deuteronomy 21:1-4. "1. If one be found slain in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee to possess it, lying in the field, and it be not known who hath slain him: 2. Then thy elders and thy judges shall come forth, and they shall measure unto the cities which are round about him that is slain: 3. And it shall be, that the city which is next unto the slain man, even the elders of that city shall take an heifer, which hath not been wrought with, and which hath not drawn in the yoke; 4. And the elders of that city shall bring down the heifer unto a rough valley, which is neither eared nor sown, and shall strike off the heifer's neck there in the valley."

What kind of ridiculous ritual is this? A perfectly good cow gets beheaded, for what? How does beheading a cow affect the fact that a man is dead?

Could you PLEASE answer questions without publishing the entire Bible and Quran in your answer. Honestly, few people read these and often they are given a thumbs down just to close them so we do not have to scroll through them. The same goes for unblievers trying to use Biblical passages to make their points. Give a verse, make people look it up for heavens sake. These long discourses do nothing for any of us and are at least part of why people feel they are being preached to.

Or is God expected to follow the same rules we do? Because it seems to me that God's allowed to do all kinds of immoral stuff that we're not allowed to. Like flood people to death. Is it because he's our Creator, and that allows him to do the things he forbids us from doing?

Christmas Trees? The word Yule? You think that has to do with birth of christ? Think again.

Easter eggs? Old Russian fertility stuff.

I want to share a opinion I have about Christians. 1st of all I am a Christian for over 20 years. I think that because there are so many Christians that it's impossible for us to have a positive image in the public eye. There are hundreds of thousands of "Christians" out there, if not millions. Not all really take the idea of Christianity seriously. Many simply have grown up in a Christian home & view their religion as part of their identity & then, react when they feel they are being attacked (like here on YA). Others, are sincere in their faith but have not really explored it enough to articulate their views to others in a mature way. There are other points, but I am running out of space. I want to take another tack. If you were to examine any other belief system (religious or not) that was adhered to by the same number of people, you would have the same result. That is, a lot of dumb people saying stupid things that do not accurately represent the truth of the belief system.

I am desperate to see what Zeus has prepared for his lovers and worshippers in the Great Heaven in the Sky.

I want to see all those Christian paraplegics and blind and deaf and dumb "roam about Heaven all day".

"And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish and not that thy whole body be cast into Hell.

And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish and not that thy whole body be cast into Hell." (Matthew 5:29-30)

Heaven is surely for disabled Christians by the words of Jesus.

Why do atheists celebrate Christmas and Easter if they don't believe in God? Doesn't make sense to me.

And would Jesus be proud of us spending so much money on material things in honor of his birth?

2006-12-20 17:01:32 · 12 answers · asked by Sweatburn 1

Why do christians make up their own religion? Isn't it Gods task to make everything for us? God did not give authority to call His religion 'Christianity'. He did not give authority to celebrate Christmas...and if you say Jesus is God ..he often asked his followers to ''worship the Father"...which he also did himself....why wud a God worship Himself?? that is illogical!!!

Truth is something that withstands all tests and logically makes sense by producing the same results each time.

I have always been a very spiritual person, and one could even say religious in my own way. I do believe in Jesus as a savior, and I think he can be a great outlet for people to use to find their spirituality, but I in no way believe him to be the only way. Many scare me with the hate and misunderstanding they bring upon Christ by using interpretations of scripture and teachings that were not meant to judge or cause fear in others. I believe in a loving God' that hold everyone on equal footing in finding his love.

I have been to a Methodist church a few times, and it has been the closest to a loving atmosphere. I am not claiming that anyone needs to choose a religion to find spirituality, but I am looking for another outlet to meet likeminded people and do more good for people and the community.

And suggestions?

I just want to find a correllation between drugs and alcohol. If you drink with a limit, someone say it is ok. How about drugs? if I dont abuse it, then will it be ok for me to consume?

2006-12-20 16:52:30 · 11 answers · asked by dafiahmad 2

I am thinking about those that say if you follow jesus, you will go to heaven, if you don't, you go to hell. God is just, right? To think that everyone would have an equal chance to follow a religion is very foolish. One look at a globe with religous percentages of territories scattered across it, to anyone with any understanding of probability, would immediately realize, while looking at the high concentration of high percentages in areas, culture is what chooses religion. Certainly not some inner-soul, faith based decision that has anything to do with right and wrong. Is your god extremely unfair, or is the heaven=believe Hell=Unbelieve just a myth about your faith?...plz enlighten me.

I am sure if there is a god, Believing or disbelieving in a certain sect of religion has nothing to do with your invitation to the eternal afterlife party or god is a very twisted, unfair, and all-around a pretty wierd dude, agreed?

11A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. 12I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent. 13For Adam was formed first, then Eve. 14And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner. 15But women[a] will be saved[b] through childbearing—if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety.

is this one of those verses that we should just skip?

Sure a person can put something together without instructions. Wouldn't it be much easier if there was a guide line to follow. Why is it a factor with some people about the age of scripture? We all know right from wrong. Truth span across time and space. example. If someone kills a man, they more than likely will feel some kind of guilt. If a person does something that hurts a fellow person, its damaging to them. If not it is damaging to people around the victim. It's just immoral to hurt anyone. The scriptures are a guidline to being human. There is something to gain from it even if you think its just a 'good story'. Fear is not exploring life outside of the little boxes that we live in. Knowledge is everywhere. I am not a religious person, but I am spiritual and I believe that the human spirit is guidelined and documented throughout scripture. Anyone who has an opinion please share. Peace!!
