What would motivate him to condemn everyone who doesn't believe in him? Pride? Vanity? Does he NEED everyone to believe in him, if he is God anyways?

I mean, who NEEDS someone to believe in them and if they don't then they send them to a firey pit of despair? That sounds more like Lucifer if you ask me.

states:

Just as kits of little plastic bricks can be used to make everything from models of the space shuttle to the statue of liberty, comets are looking more and more like one of Nature's toolkits for creating life. These chunks of ice and dust wandering our solar system appear to be filled with organic molecules that are the building blocks of life.

Why do it? Why take the broad road that leads to destruction? Lets face it, you don't want to end up in hell but for some reason, you won't accept God's wonderful plan for salvation, why not?

I am extremely interested in Quakerism as I believe it fits very well with my own beliefs. (And I'm also very open to learning.) I have nothing against other religions; I just feel as though Quakerism is a very good fit for me. The only problem is that while I'm away at school, there is no place nearby that hosts meetings. I have done a lot (a ton) of reading on the beliefs and practices, I know the basics, but how should I go about becoming a Quaker if I can't actually go to meetings regularly? Is it possible?

I've also been to many different websites, so if you include a link, please add a little note saying what may be of interest on the site or what I should go to on the site.

Also, please only answer if you have something to add, not just "Not sure." If you are Quaker, if you know a Quaker, or if you've just heard/read about it, I do appreciate any sort of guidance you could provide. Thanks so much!

Why not just make only people that God knows will be 'saved' and refrain from creating the rest? That way, there's no Hell and everybody goes to Heaven! (I assume God would have had the good sense not to create Satan...) Why create people that are just gonna wind up in Hell anyway? It seems awfully pointless and wasteful!

Like I know some jewish people who get mad because others celebrate with Christmas trees. I saw on the news a while back that a rabi was going to sue an airport if they didn't take their Christmas Trees down, but he wanted a menorah to go up?
If you have a right to celebrate your holiday, don't others have a right to celebrate theirs?

Why aren't stores allowed to say Merry Christmas? If I celebrate Christmas can't I tell someone Merry Christmas? How is that harming them? I get told Happy Hanukkah and it doesn't make me mad.

Why can't people just let other celebrate their way with their sayings and what not and not get so mad at others in a time of giving and love.

If part of Eve's consequence for sin in Genesis is the pains of childbirth, did the ever Virgin Mary experience the reality of original sin, thus the actual pains of childbirth? Did she maintain her virginity in fulfillment of Isaiah's prophesy?

Is pain part of original sin?
Merry Christmas!

Why did God assign angels to record the deeds of humans? Why couldn't He have done it himself? Why did He create angels to intervene in nature at God's will? Couldn't God do the intervening Himself?

What is really so different about God creating angels, and saying that God created other lesser gods? He could have said don't worship the other gods, they are all under My command and not worthy of worship. What does it really matter whether you call them "gods" or "angels"?

I'm not trying to start a fight, by the way. I'm just trying to learn the Islamic perspective on Angels.
Christians and Jews and whoever else may answer too from the perspective of your own religion, if you'd like.

It was said that Jesus would be born from the line of David. Ive heard that Joseph was used to complete that prophesy because he was born of the line of david. But if joseph wasnt the one who impregnated mary, then jesus is not related to him. can anyone help me understand this?

Many Christians say that people can be kind, loving, thoughtful, etc. on Earth, yet STILL claim that these people 'deserve' to roast in Hell because they didn't accept Christ as their savior (even if they never even HEARD of Him!) I think that any GENUINELY decent person would refuse to go to 'Heaven' if God/Jesus is going to put all those other decent human beings in Hell! How could it not bother you if you were in Heaven while those who you loved on Earth (and who loved YOU!) were roasting in Hell...? You would have to lack any kind of a concience or sense of ethics in order to accept such a situation as 'just'! Besides, the Bible itself said that the rich man who died and went into torment pleaded with those in paradise to warn his brothers not to go to the place he was. Clearly, he still cared about them, PROVING that the 'dammed' DO love other people! I wonder how much love there will be in the so-called 'Heaven'! Your opinion...?

My mother said that just this morning a squirrel was in the middle of two main highways and she prayed it would be all right and find the ground off the side of the road and it did. She says that this is proof prayer works.

Well, I know it isn't. Is this really the main reason ANYONE who believes in prayer believes in it? Because of coincidences? I bet somewhere else in the world the same scenario happened except THAT squirrel got killed by a car.

This is not proof. I'm asking for REAL proof. Go on show me.

What if I got so deep in the bible that I found out that its a sin to take a crap. If we lived our life according to "god's will" based on the bible..then we would all be walking around butt-naked eating plants and fruits.

...and the verse that suggests that women should not be ministers:

Is it just me, or are the people who most adamantly come to the defense of these types of verses WOMEN?

Now, I'm mainly talking about Yahoo Answers, because I don't typically talk much about religion and spirituality in real life. And maybe it's just my observation, but whenever these verses come up in a question, I'll see female answerers saying things like "well yeah, that is the role we women have in life."

Has anyone else noticed this? Or is it just me?

NOTE: I'm not talking about whether or not we should abide by these verses, either--just the people who defend them.

according to the scripture Jesus was put on the cross on friday afternoon and by night fall he was in the tomb.

according to the sign of prophet jonah, Jesus was supposed to spend 3 days and three nights in the heart of the earth. so.....

friday night
saturday morning
saturday night
sunday morning mary magdalen goes to the tomb and finds it open and Jesus is not there.

so he spent 2 nights and 1 day not 3 days and 3 nights.

why is this contradiction???
