If you are Muslim, Atheist, Jewish, Christian, or anything else...why do you believe what you believe? Does it always take faith to some extent? How could something come from nothing?

Important: This is philosophic question, not an attack on the motives of a Christian lifestyle.

I have noticed a strong Christian presence here, and I don’t have any Christian friends to ask myself. It is also a complex question, and I will be hugely grateful for a full answer.

I once read a book that argued the need for Christian God. It asserted that if there was no God judging us, and no resulting heavenly reward or hellish punishment, then there would be no need for us to have good morals.

This means that Christianity could be a useful tool for persuading people without morals that they should behave, and thus create a better society. But it also calls into question the true motives of good Christian behaviour.

i.e, when an atheist commits an anonymous charitable act that will bring him no future physical benefits (i.e no hope of reward, even looking good in front of people), he does so because he feels genuine empathy and gains pleasure from the pleasure of others.

Revelation 22:18-19
"I warn everyone who hears the prophetic words in this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book,
and if anyone takes away from the words in this prophetic book, God will take away his share in the tree of life and in the holy city described in this book".

It seems Martin Luther is condemned. When he translated the Bible into German, he threw out 7 old testament books: Wisdom, Sirach, Judith, Baruch, Tobit, 1 & 2 Maccabees. He also threw out James, Jude, 2 Peter, and Revelation in the New Testament. He put those NT books back a year later when his diciples complained. James completely contradicted his theology.
The 7 O.T. books are still missing from protestant Bibles.
Luther is in serious eternal trouble.
How many agree?

That to suggests a man or woman or both are out there physically somewhere. Dont you find it odd? If God has OUR eyes, how can he see us. If he has our lungs, how is he breathing in space? hmmmmm.

You are free to answer in any way you choose but I will not read bible verses. I would appreciate answers in your own words, otherwise I will question if you have any words that are your own.

Seriously, it is kind of rude that people bash each other's religion. It seems to appear many times in Yahoo Answers.

I'm trying my damnedest to figure out some christian theology.
from basic knowledge gained throw a few discussions of people of various sects of the religion, respectively, i come to more questions than answers. so i post a 2-in-1 question with cynical aimed wording in hopes that it will catch allot of attention.
the 1st part of the question is this: a sociophobic God. it seems that God does not show himself often, & really hasn't said anything new in person for the past 2000 years (this statement is in use for the believe that god & Jesus are two separate beings)! so god is extremely shy, & thus must hold some bias toward his best work (...that I'VE ever seen).
this leads me to the second part of the question: is god a hermaphrodite? some variations of Christianity state that "god made man & woman in his likeness" means that he is both female & male.I'm at odds with that, & have more questions branching off from that idea, but that would take me away from the basic subject...

I have noticed it so much in asia africa etc, I think people should be able to make there own choices in life , no being offered food and forgiveness education etc if they change there religion.
If they really cared they would help anyway, and would respect other people religions. There destroying cultures and history.
what do you think?
