That is an unfair generalization that you are making. Yes there are Christians out there who believe what they believe and will not listen to any other views, but that is more a trait of human nature than of a religion. Everyone has views that they believe theirs is the only possible way. It is not just religion that makes a person intolerant...It has a lot to do with how they were raised and the people they surround themselves. It is unfair to judge a whole group by a sampling.

In the crowd I work with - fairly broad selection of educated Australians - its the religious people who ahve to be the quietest abotu their beliefs. The atheists get to say whatever they want, no matter how much it offends us.
I was brought up Christain but I do not read the bible. There are some great parts in it but its not perfect. I read Bhagavad Gita as tranlated by Srila Bhaktivedanta Swami prabhupad who is a bona fide spiritual master / a pure lover of God, and this book explains in more detail how to love God, how to please God, which is what Jesus wants us to do, its our natural fucntion as living beings. This book is great but I also know I need to rely on the lord in the heart and my own spiritual master for guidance.
I do not belive in gay marraige. God loves everyone equally but he is not pleased by homosexual behavior. He loves the person but he doesnt like the behavior. We don't ahve to be slaves to our desires. The closer we get to God the easier it is to not be a slave to our desires. Spiritula life is like a war on materialism which includes the fleeting desires of the mind. Its a war that should take place within individuals, not between.
Also, you may speculate on a mental level that abortion is okay in this situation or that, but the mother must pay for this murder in the next life, or even in this one. You don't necessarily see that but its true. Life begins at conception and we can't just extend our throw away mentality to other life forms. I have a freind whose sister is a rape baby and they have a happy family. with teh right attitide we can get through anything. as Jesus sadi ' we should not kill' and as buddha said ' we should not kill'....

Anonymity brings out the worst in human beings, i do not pay them a lot heed. those who act indignant and condescending on line are in basic terms behaving in a predictable way, that is not something to get disillusioned over. Why get disillusioned once you are able to study their habit? it really is a lot more effective interesting, and also you may study an element or 2 ;) i'm a lot more effective quiet in genuine existence. it really is ordinarily because of the particular shown actuality that i'm an quite pensive human being. by technique of the time i have idea a topic by, come to a end, and determined a thanks to be conscious my ideas, the authentic existence conversations have already moved on to a clean topic. on line, i visit take my time even as answering a question, and quite imagine my aspect by, with no need to pressure about someone replacing the problem...

Please read!
When you die and stand before The Lamb(Jesus Christ) and finally see him face to face and finally know the truth. And it will happen. Tell me what does it matter about budda, Islamic belief or any other gods. For they can not save you. That's why Gods people go hard after telling the good news(the TRUTH) because there is no other God and its to late to change after you die. If I know the truth why would I settle for anyone spreading a lie. If I see you in the road blindfolded and a semi is about to hit you, would I turn my head and say oh that's not a real semi or would I make an effort to save you. If you don't know the answer MY HAND IS STRETCHED OUT, AND I'M TRYING!

i wouldn't say that religious people are intolerant of other beliefs, they just hold thier own very dear. just because they don't believe in those things dosen't mean their intolerant- that just means they hold a different opinion on those subjects.and thats why America is a free country.
that question could also be reversed, i don't believe in any of those things but that dosent mean i hate the people that do them, only God should judge them, the bible says let he that is with out sin cast the first stone- you wont see me throwing any stones. some religious people are fanadical but not all so its not a fair assessmet to lump them all as intolerant. i for one happen to be christian and believe that compassion is very important. No i don't agree with the stuff you listed because but that doen't mean that I think the people who do them should burn in hell either, my job is to be me and to let God be God.

Jesus came to seek and to save that which was lost. Jesus told them about the truth and He didn't beat around the bush. He got straight to the point. He called sin sin. They didn't like it then and they don't like it now. Jesus was crucified for His faith ,Paul was beheaded for his faith, Simon Peter was crucified up side down, Mathew was thrusted thru with a sword for his faith, The beloved John the revelator was boiled in hot oil yet lived but was banished to an Island to live until he died. And many more were burned at the stake for there faith in Jesus Christ to save and to deliver from sin. Shall I go on do you need a lesson in history?
There is a battle going on buddy and whether you believe it or not you are in it. Will you side with those who killed Christ and Killed God's prophets and saints or will you repent and give your life to Christ and depart from sin and pickup the cross and follow Jesus to the end. There will be an end. And you will be a part of it whether you like it or not. The choice is yours. Which side will you take? Choose Death or Life! Jesus said I am the way and the truth and the life!

Um.... You are too stereotypical!
Christians do respect other people and their religions.
I'm not a fan of Gay Marriage, but look at some republicans, not all of them are Christians and not a fan either.
Abortion is wrong because it kills the child inside you. It would be like shooting fish in a barrel, only a baby in a uterus. (Yeah, sounds weird once you say it huh?)
I oppose biology completely. I am a Christian, and although I pay attention in class and learn the "facts" (which, are, by the way, still being taught as though we were in 1995 or 2001), I still have my own Christian roots first.

Because they do not want people to suffer the consequences of their sinful activities (Karma) if one is involved in brain stem cell research they will have a lot of Karma to reap. As spiritualists it is our responsibility to enlighten people on the truth so they do not harm themselves or others. It's actually generally out of love. Gay marriage will only create bondage to the material world and one will have to come back to the material world again. Abortion is killing and one will have to go through the same situation as the fetus did. It's very simple they just don't want you to suffer or others.

The very basis of Christianity is that it is the truth. If a person believes that is true ,then that person is taught that it is the only way.Which makes everything not of God or God's teachings intolerable. To believe that Christ is the Son of God is to believe that God will not tolerate anything from Him.To be a Christian is to be against anything of man or the earth.

Why not just open it up and not have a religion at all?Why care about whats right or wrong, just so long as I get what I want.Sound fair enough?
Who cares if God word says be fruitful, although gay people can't be fruitful
Who cares if a helpless baby has it's brains sucked out just so Iong as I can get better.
Who care if a baby is murdered just so I can live my life irresponsible.
