I'm not religous or anything, I just sometimes feel that given that we are a Christian country, and i recently heard that some other religions considered Christmas celebrations to be racist because we put up lights.

Please explain what the name really means and where you got your answer. I've already tried wikipedia and wasn't happy with their answer. I'd love to hear from someone who is truely knowledgable on the subject of the Old Covenant names of God. Feel free to tell me as many of them as you know and their true meanings. Thanks

Please do NOT insult Christianity in any way because if you do so I will report abuse.
Preferably quote some lines from KJV Bible as evidence.

I think most Christians are Christians for two reasons.

1. Raised a Christian.
2. Became a Christian as an emotional crutch in the face of adversity.

The third reason, "intellectual oddysey," I would postulate is far less frequently the reason. By that I mean undertaking a comprehensive study of science, philosophy, and literature. Although some, like Lee Strobel, have become Christians in this way, I think it's a low percentage.

I hypothesize that in order to honestly undertake an "intellectual oddysey," one must not fear EITHER position.

That said, I think many fear the consequences of atheism:

1. Family approval
2. Friendships and social networking opportunities
3. Opportunities for dating/marriage
4. Social disapproval based on distrust and perceived lack of morals
5. Psychological turmoil and/or crisis based on concepts of the
afterlife - both for self and loved ones.
6. Suffering for eternity in hell.

How can one give atheism a fair shake with fear?

Think about It: Whether you believe in God or Not, Christian principles state:

Love your enemies
Do good to those who persecute you
etc. etc. check out the Bible for further details

is Bush an example of hypocrisy?? If so, can you really blame people for becoming athiests when they see hypocritical Christians/religious people who dont even follow the same principles that they seek to impose upon others?

Hi
We all have gone some hardiships in life, but some people more than others, I lost my faith in GOD ,(Even if I think he exists), after way too many harships , I am not going to trouble you telling you my life story , wondered if life was even worth to live. IS ANYONE HERE that after very severe hardships, I MEAN REALLY SEVERE, lost that faith but gained it back and why? I have prayed and prayed but found a deaf GOD, and I am not disrespecting Him, becasue I BELIEVE HE EXIST , it just seems as he does not care.
I ASK please, if you do not have a story ,DO NOT START PREACHING .thank you.

I hear that alot. " Christians are brainwashed ". I rather thought I have been out washing brains... telling them of the Lover...the Beloved... and letting them see the bright and shining faces of Jesus...helping them go with us...walking in His river of spice filled worship...soaking away all pain and negativity from their little brainy souls....

Ever since I can remember as a little girl... I have felt this bright invisible star of spiritual enlightenment in my being...in my belly. As soon as He..Jesus..appeared to me... and some kind of heavenly bliss...and laughter. Anyone got a brain that needs washing ?

Well, at Youth Group(every Tuesday night), we have graffiti boards. We write on them what we're feeling, and what we need help with so people that see the postings(whether you put your name or not) can pray for you. I wrote that I don't think I'm fufilling my purpose in life, and that I don't think I'm trying that hard to either, I asked God if He coul help me along the way? What can I do to become a better Christian? Please, if you're not going to be helpful, don't answer.
