There are a lot of people in the world who are "cultural" Christians or "cultural" Hindus or "cultural" Muslims, "cultural" Buddhist, etc. What that means is they live in a nation where the dominant culture is influenced by a particular religion. They are born into this culture and raised in families that accept the mainstream culture, but do not necessarily actually practice the religion. They merely adopt the religion in name and know some, but not all of, the stories, theology, etc. Sometimes they practice a "folk" version of the religion. Thus many "cultural" people may not be as familiar with the deeper theological and philosophical thoughts or beliefs as espoused by the sacred texts, teachers, and theologians whereas those who have invested time, for whatever reason, may do so (such as teachers, clergy, and people are just in general want to know). There are some places in the world where Christians are a minority and "Christian" culture is not the dominant culture. Thus there are few cultural Christians there, and thereby many of these Christians are more knowledgable of the theology and philosophy of their religion that other followers of the same religion in other parts of the world merely take for granted because the dominant culture was somewhat or heavily influenced by the religion.

I hope I explained that well. :-\

Peace be with you.

Whether he truley knows or not is not for us to judge. The fact of the matter is, that he is asking questions and hopefully learning.

As for Christians, we come in all different levels of knowledge. Many are saved by grace and satisfied with a basic, nominal knowledge of God. Then there are others who just can't get enough. If people really knew how much joy, peace and pleasure are available to them through a close personal relationship with Jesus Christ, they would be addicted to Him. They would read their Bible and pray every day. They would spend hours in praise and worshiping Him. But we were born human first and become Christians later after the laziness of human nature and sin have already polluted our hearts and minds.

All I can say, is that more Christians should take time to develop a relationship with Christ. By the way, if this guy is spending hours upon hours on his computer, how much time does he have left to serve his god?

Hindu religion gives immense freedom. See it is like exploring a mountain. If someone puts a condition that u can only explore a part of it, then your knowledge about it will be limited. On the contrary, if u r given the freedom to explore the entire mountain, then your knowledge will be much more than the person who had explored a part.

Well, I could post eighty questions per minute asking things about the Bible, Christ's life, Christ's apostles, and so forth and so on, and I could do it every night for weeks and still not exhaust all the details and names for things and people that there are in the Bible.

Just because the guy mentions names, principles, and things about temples and whatnot means that he knows of them. It doesn't mean anything more--or less--than that.

The key word in your question is "seem." Since he spits out lots of little data, he is creating to you the illusion of great knowledge. Because the data are unfamiliar to you, you think they're all esoteric or sublime or magical or something...when in fact they are just commonplace things known to most Hindus. That is, you are viewing words that are foreign to you as evidence of some great knowledge...when really it's normal stuff to many folks in India.

This isn't to say one way or another what this guy knows. I couldn't tell you. But if you'd like me to send you 1,000 questions about the Bible, I could get it to you pretty quickly, off the cuff. Not that complex.

You are just so repeatedly judgmental and unkind...and susceptible to being persuaded by your own mind to believe that quantity equals something more than itself.

He has read a lot of scriptures and epics. They are the real treasures of knowledge . They speak in abstract language not naming any god in particular. Others who know the answers give it and many people gain by it.

because you are not as familiar with Hinduism's characters as you would be with Christian ones. For example, imagine a Christian version of this barrage of questions:

"Who is Paul in the New Testament?"
"Who is Moses?"
"Who is Abraham?"
"What is Genesis?"
"Who is John the Baptist?"

See, that doesn't sound so intelligent, does it?

He has been accumulating points and planning his questions for months probably. Many Christians could do the same if they put their minds to it.
