Ok so the six weeks of Lent are an intense preparation for celebrating the sacraments of initiation. Read or recite the Apostles' Creed(or Nicene Creed). So the question is to name a truth about the faith contained in this prayer. What is the faith, contained in this prayer?

From Wikipedia: "Dum Diversas is a papal bull issued on 18 June 1452 by Pope Nicholas V. It authorised Alfonso V of Portugal to reduce any "Saracens (Muslims) and pagans and any other unbelievers" to perpetual slavery. This facilitated the Portuguese slave trade from West Africa."

Do you know what scripture he used to make this decision?
When was this papal bull reversed, by whom, and by what scriptural authority?
Has a pope ever apologized on behalf of the Church for authorizing slavery, as John Paul II apologized to the Jews for Catholic persecution?

Why is this not a contradiction of papal infallibility?

(and lest anyone think I'm out to bash Catolics, there were many churches that sanctioned slavery, such as the Southern Baptists who broke away from the Baptists specifically to recognize the scriptural basis for slavery...I'll get to you presently).

Like if i make a fire to boil water to make a cup of tea, i kind of know how that works, but what is the maths, science, machanics, logic etc that makes us forgiven when Jesus died. And could God forgive us with out killing himself first?

I am a buddhist and I really want to keep this religion because I believe that God is always by my side no matter what that happens. I love the fellowships in temple and this temple is my whole entire life. I am not against any religion and thus I go to church to attend services and worshipping God. But in the bible it says in the 10 commandments that one shall worship Him and no other worshipping of other idols. Something like that... So I was thinking is it a sin to have two religions? In a buddhist point of view and a christian point of view. Help needed...please? I can't decide on one because to me both are the same and that we pray to the Almighty-GOD

...."You must be born again. The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit."

I know this is in referrence to becoming Christian; but really, what does it even mean?

People aren't supposed to be able to tell where a Christian came from? Isn't it a useful witnessing tool when you can show some potential convert the crappy life you used to lead before you were born again?

And people also can't tell where a Christian is going? So that means when someone says that they're going to heaven... they're not truly born again?

I dunno, I think everyone who claims to be born again nowadays is missing Jesus' point. It sounds to me like he really wanted you to become ninjas.

Lilly made the following point :

"I know many people (scientists, doctors, lawyers, etc.) who are deeply religious. Einstein was devout. Would you claim him funny or stupid? I wouldn't. "

Now is this the same Einstein who said :

"A man's ethical behaviour should be based effectually on sympathy, empathy, education, common sense and social ties; no religious basis is necessary. Man would indeed be in a poor way if he had to be restrained by fear of punishment and hope of reward after death. "

Is Islam a peaceful religion? And I mean in practise, history and with evidence, not just theory alone. Sure, anyone can preach something that sounds good, but what Islam is is really what its followers do. So in what way is Islam peaceful or not?
