I didn't know a majority of people thought that. I would guess more people would mistakenly think Muslims have to be Arab, even though the majority of Muslims are not (nor are all Arabs Muslim).
It is true, in any case, that there is a lot that many people don't know about ethnic, racial or religious groups other than their own, and we'd all be better off if we did learn more about each other.

nobody says they "have" to be, it's just that most of them are.
In the west (the "white" countries I suppose you'd call them) we have a much higher level of education so a religion such as mohommedanism does't catch on so easily. It's flaws and irrationalities are more obvious to the educated mind.
This goes for all religions in fact. As educational levels rise, so religions fail and die. Bearing in mind that the vast majority of the world is still educationally backward, religion still holds power over the people - even in some western countries (ie. USA).

Most Muslims come from Asia and Africa so it is a simple to equate this. However there are many Caucasian Muslims in European Russia and the Balkans - Kosova and Bosnia for example. If anyone followed the news of the Balkan wars they should have realised this.

its not that Muslims have to be black or Asian, its just that the majority are! If you really believe in a religion,why worry about what other people think about it?

Question in return------------why do most people think that most Muslims are Arabs? This is not true. Only some of them are. Our news media has done a very good snow job on people.
Muslims come in all colors and races. And, another misinformation----the people of the Mid-east are white. Just as all races come in all shades of color, so do white people.

To all those who think the rest of the muslims are arabs...think again.
Turkey=non arab and 99 percent muslim
Lebanon=originally phoenican and non arab and contain a large number of muslims
There are other examples.
But the point is, people dont know much about Islam or the people who are Muslims. sad fact.

Well do Christians have to be white? Of course not - Muslims like Christians, Jews, Sikhs Jehovahs or Hindus, or any religion are not particularly ethnically based. *C*unts come in all colours, shapes and sizes.

I dont think that they have to be asian/arabic/black etc, obviously there are white muslims, but the majority are not white though are they?? I think most people understand that.

It's just that in the past these were the types of people who were in the news at the time and got the stereotypical stamp long ago.Plus there is alot of them.
