...."You must be born again. The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit."
I know this is in referrence to becoming Christian; but really, what does it even mean?
People aren't supposed to be able to tell where a Christian came from? Isn't it a useful witnessing tool when you can show some potential convert the crappy life you used to lead before you were born again?
And people also can't tell where a Christian is going? So that means when someone says that they're going to heaven... they're not truly born again?
I dunno, I think everyone who claims to be born again nowadays is missing Jesus' point. It sounds to me like he really wanted you to become ninjas.

Lol, just as I expected. There a lot of "you need to be born again because this and this verse says so."
But none of "Here's a point by point explanation of your question."

Oh, and it is (for once) pretty clear that Jesus is not saying that the spirit of God is like the wind, at least not in this verse. He says straight out that the PEOPLE born of the spirit are like the wind.
i.e. ninjas.

please note the statement made by Jesus about being born again was made to a Jew b4 the day He hung on a cross. What we refer to as being born again today is when the comforter comes and resides with us. Could nicodemas possibly have understood something that was not even available at the time of the conversation?? would Jesus have been trying to confuse him, I think not. The use of the term Born again while in the Spirit of conversion is a mis appropriation of scripture.
Is it any wonder people have problems with understanding scripture look at these answers. Baptising is after the cross, born again was to a jew b4 the cross. Then there is the scripture that says there is but one baptism.
However there is a point when a person accepts the comforter and their life changes immediately and if you have not experienced that then a wonderous thing is still available to you.

To be born again simply means to become alive in your spirit. When Adam and Eve sinned in the beginning, mans nature became sinful and our spirits were separated from GOD. Have you ever wondered why you don't have to teach a 2 year old to be selfish? Its in him or her to be selfish because of the sin nature that we inherited from our grand pappy Adam. However we do as parents have to teach our kids to be loving an caring towards people. Why you ask? because we are sinful at heart.
Being born again is when GOD cleans up our spirit by indwelling us with his very own presence (he is omni present) there by saving us from ourselves. This is done when we believe in what JESUS accomplished on the cross for us at Calvary and ask him to come into our lives and save us. JESUS is simply saying in this passage that your spirit must be renewed by the HOLY SPIRIT of GOD. When the wind blows you can feel it coming but you do not know from whence it came or where it is going.
When the HOLY SPIRIT OF GOD indwells us and cleans us up from the inside out, as Christians we can sense and feel that he is there but we do not know how hes doing what hes doing.
~GOD BLESS YOU AND LEAD YOU INTO ALL TRUTH~

Jesus used the analogy of the wind to indicate that parts of the "new birth" experience are a mystery to us as far as how the Spirit does this miracle in us.
A born-again Christian is someone who has repented of their sins and turned to Christ for their salvation, and as a result has become part of God's family forever. All this takes place as God's Spirit works in our lives.
You see, by nature we aren't members of God's family, and we don't have any right to inherit eternal life. The reason is because of our sin. We have rebelled against God, and because of that, the Bible says, we are "separated from the life of God ... due to the hardening of (our) hearts" (Ephesians 4:18). No, you may not see yourself as a bad person (and you probably aren't)—but in God's eyes even one sin is enough to keep you out of heaven.
But Jesus Christ came to save us and to make us part of His family forever! He did this by dying for our sins on the cross and by conquering death through His resurrection. You see, as a human being you were born into a family—and nothing can ever change that. But when we come to Christ we are spiritually reborn into another family—the family of God. The Bible says to Christ's followers, "You have been born again ... through the living and enduring word of God" (1 Peter 1:23).
My prayer is that you too may be born again and become part of God's family. By a simple prayer of faith, tell God that you know you are a sinner, and you are sorry for your sins. Then ask Christ to come into your life and save you. When you do, God will come to live within you by His Spirit, and you will be born again.

The way BORN AGAIN is taught in the church is just a FAD!
As you noted. Jesus said when we are Born Again, we are
just like the wind.
People think being in Spirit is just getting in the mood!
When we worship the Creator, we worship him with our spirit
in the spirit world.
2 Corinthians 12. Astral travel, third heaven.
"We are confident to be absent from the BODY, and present
with the LORD!" Apostle Paul.
Born Again is when we leave this physical world, and are
Born Again into the Spirit world we came from.

First remember who it is that Jesus is speaking to. Keep reading John 3 it will explain further... It is about faith in the unseen... Ask God to make it clear to you and He will. Just keep reading. Read it over and over if necessary, you will get it. Also check out Hebrews 11:1

The peace the world gives is conditional and very fragile the slightest infringement will break it. The peace Jesus gives is a permanent condition, it does not depend on man keeping certain conditions. 1) It is His peace, not something thrashed out between two parties. 2) Peace is given, not imposed. 3) Jesus is our peace, not a treaty written on a piece of paper. 4) Peace that the world gives, reconciles two parties. - Men. The peace Jesus gives, reconciles man to man and man to God.
