People look to superheros for more inspiration than anything. Maybe Jesus was the first Superman comic, and his following got out of control?

The New Testament consigns "unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's"; it demands that women be obedient to their husbands; it accepts faith healing, exorcisms, and miracles; it exalts obedience over independence, fear and trembling over courage, and piety over self-determination.
The Qur'an does not tolerate dissent, freedom of conscience, or the right to unbelief. It denies the rights of women. It exhorts jihad, holy war against infidels. It demands utter submission to the Word of God as revealed by Muhammad. It rejects the separation of mosque and state, thus installing the law of sharia and the theocracy of imams and mullahs.
True believers have in the past often found little room for human autonomy, individual freedom, or self-reliance. They have emphasized submission to the word of God instead of self-determination, faith over reason, and credulity over doubt. All too often they have had little confidence in the ability of humans to solve problems and create a better future

Your own definition.

Simple rules to this game: No quoting. That includes dictionaries, Wikipedia, and holy texts, as well as anything else. Your definition as seen through your eyes. You may include the influence of a holy text if appropriate, as in how it has shaped your view, and even a reference point, but no quotes. Your own words.

Go!

That our belief in "God" is what makes our life complete. Not wealth, or fame, or material things. Instead of showing them anger, try and show them the way...

P.S. You can still give them a thumbs down though...

I discovered some flawed prison statistics

1. They assumed everyone in prison who's not religious are Atheists (Plenty theist consider themselves nonreligious)

2. They assumed everyone that didn't respond to the question in prison are Atheists

3. They assumed everyone that has a unknown religion are Atheists

4. They assumed that all the agnostics in prison are Atheists

They took all these assumptions to get a percentage of Atheists in prison

As we all know, the greatest threat to western civilization and culture is radical fundamentalist Islam. Every news report says that the actual number of fundamenatlists is rather small compared to the number of every day Muslims. So my question is, what will it take for the every day Muslims who all they want is to live thier life without fear of their markets getting shelled, their busses/subways being blown up etc. to rise up against these people who have turned their religion into one of the most hated in the world?

Especially if he is jealous? Psycologicly, Jealousy is a sign of insecurity and doubt in yourself. How can somthing that is perfect have this type of flaw?

5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

I have been a bit hesitant about this... I am thinking about weather or not to answer the same boring questions. I personally know some questions are meant to provoke me as a believer...but I am devating weather or not the people who ask these questions are even willing to listen to what you have to say and if this is just a waste of time and effort on my part? I am sure the same happens to everyone here who gets their religion trashed by people who do not even practice what they preach (Peace and Tolerance). Any who.... What do you think?????

Do you think that questions that are meant to provoke you or bring down your religion should even be answered?

Eg. Most hindus are able to digest that Jesus was divine. This is but a natural manifestation of divinity to erring humanity and is an event that happens many times in the course of history.

For that matter Allah or the concept of a formless good exist as the consciousness as attained during Nirvana or the Nirguna Brahman as explained in vedanta.

Slaves, obey your earthly masters with deep respect and fear. Serve them sincerely as you would serve Christ. (Ephesians 6:5 NLT)

Christians who are slaves should give their masters full respect so that the name of God and his teaching will not be shamed. If your master is a Christian, that is no excuse for being disrespectful. You should work all the harder because you are helping another believer by your efforts. Teach these truths, Timothy, and encourage everyone to obey them. (1 Timothy 6:1-2 NLT)

In the following parable, Jesus clearly approves of beating slaves even if they didn't know they were doing anything wrong.

The servant will be severely punished, for though he knew his duty, he refused to do it. "But people who are not aware that they are doing wrong will be punished only lightly. Much is required from those to whom much is given, and much more is required from those to whom much more is given." (Luke 12:47-48 NLT)

Interesting from the 1 Kings 18:40 (or maybe 2 Kings) the prophet Elijah after winning a challenge against the prophets of Ba'al has them executed.

Imagine being martyred for Ba'al.
