The bible says "For I am a jealous God" but He was saying this when he was discussing people worshiping other Gods. While He knows that there are no other Gods, some people still put all of their focus on things of this world or other Gods that take up their time and they do not worship the True Creator. That is why He is a "jealous God"

Since God is only a concept to delineate the idea of Creators (which we are each supposed to be, creating more than we consume), then the Jealousy aspect comes into play in the Marketing department. In other words, God is not supposed to be sold as anything other than the Creator Concept which is why any other concept of God would be wrong (such as the Magical Skycap Buddy that services your needs).
Only God is supposed to be selling God, nobody else is supposed to sell the God concept. Since God is ONLY a concept, then not only can't God be offended by other gods, but God can't be a god. If you start to believe that there is really a god who picks who lives and dies, who wins wars and who gets to take over the world, then that god isn't God, just your invention to take power away from Creators who know how to cooperate with each other and the universe to build things for the future rather than destroy. Ergo, God told us to be atheists in the wisdom passed down by the mechanization of the universe which favors those species and physical laws which create structure from the entropy (decay losses) over time. Gravity, cooperation, sex, love, and sustainable living are Creative processes. Competition, war, violence, money, and secrets are destructive tools which usually invoke gods to justify themselves: Religion gods, economic gods, property gods, etc.

Remember that the inspiration that God gives man must be written in words. As people go my bet is that we do not have a word that accurately describes What God inspired and that jealousy is just the closest word. Therefor what I am about to write is opinion. God has bad fellings like stuff when He knows we are doing something that is not good for us, and when that involves turning away from Him who has our best interest at heart He wishes us to turn back towards Him b4 we get lost.

I do not know where it says in the bible that the god of the bible is the only god that exists. ( the jewish god) It merely says that he is the only one he wants you to worship. He is jealous of the other gods, but you are not allowed to know about them. that would be eating forbidden fruit from the tree of knowledge, whcich he forbids. HE SAYS THIS!
he reserved 4 of the 10 commandents to this subject so he is very concerned about it. Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
there are other gods like him,( little gods or demi-gods) but only one true God of all gods and men. the one true GOD is NOT the same god that is in the jewish bible. that was the message from christ that he was framed for and killed by the jews for.
the one and only true god wants you to have knowledege. that is why he created for you a brain. use it and do not believe everything that every pretender, like Jejovah, tells you in print, or otherwise, now or 3500 years ago

Just quickly, God and god are not the same people. God is referring to the Supreme/Almighty One. god is considered anything that is worshiped and of course below Jehovah. Even Satan the Devil is considered a "god." See 2 Corinthians 4:4
Now, back to the question posed. Exodus 34:14 says "For you must not prostrate yourself to another god, because Jehovah, whose name is Jealous, he is a jealous God." Why is that?
It is true that Jehovah is the true God, but why would he be jealous? Because there are so many things today that people worship, such as Satan the Devil, money, loose conduct, indulging in homosexuality, divorcing for illegitimate reasons, materialism, idolizing sports starts, actresses, actors (etc.), putting their trust in men, graven images (such as wearing the cross, virgin mary on the body, etc.). All of these things are what the majority of the people in this world are putting their trust in. People indulge themselves in pleasures, which takes up a bulk of their time, when that time should really be devoted to "the more important [spiritual]things." (Philippians 1:10)
If you had a child who loved your grandparents more than it loved you because he or she received everything from them and plus the grandparents spent more time with them than you did. Also, child tells you to your very face that he or she loved your grandparents more than you [the father or mother], wouldn't you feel some sort of jealousy?
Similarly, this is how Jehovah God feels. People do not realize that Jehovah God has feelings too. He felt hurt when the Israelites [Jews] rejected him and eventually killed his only-begotten son Jesus Christ. Jehovah left the Jews entirely. He gave the Israelites many opportunities to repent, but never did.
Moreover, people today put their trust in nobles, earthling man, who is short-lived, and not God. In effect, such people who engage with the numerous things that I listed above, are saying that they love Satan the Devil [who has given nothing good to anybody] more than Jehovah God [who gave us life]. You would feel jealous too if this same thing were happening to you, right?
Something to for each and every one of us to think about.
Take Care,

Hi - It is unreasonable to assume that a God like creature would be jealous. Jealousy is a human emotion that some people assign to God so as to scare the flocks into behaving.
It's a marketing technique - nothing more.

The word "jealous" in the Hebrew can sometimes be translated "zeal". If translated like our word jealous it means that God demands exclusive devotion to Himself. This was because of His people seeking to worship idols of the pagan peoples in the area.

Jehovah is jealous, for although he is the 'god' of this world, there are still some who realize that he is not the Supreme Being.
