I have been a bit hesitant about this... I am thinking about weather or not to answer the same boring questions. I personally know some questions are meant to provoke me as a believer...but I am devating weather or not the people who ask these questions are even willing to listen to what you have to say and if this is just a waste of time and effort on my part? I am sure the same happens to everyone here who gets their religion trashed by people who do not even practice what they preach (Peace and Tolerance). Any who.... What do you think?????

Do you think that questions that are meant to provoke you or bring down your religion should even be answered?

I feel that if everyone ignored the hateful posts, they would disappear pretty quickly. I rarely answer them anymore.

Edit: I read every answer I receive.

G'day Muslimah,

Thank you for your question.

It really is a judgement call. The first question is whether the person is generally seeking information or is trolling. An Internet troll is who enters an established community such as Yahoo Answers and posts inflammatory, rude, repetitive, offensive, off-topic or otherwise disruptive messages designed intentionally to annoy, stimulate or antagonize the existing members or alter the flow of discussion. It is often said do not feed the troll meaning do not post a reply as they often give up if no-one responds to their provocation.

You might also consider whether you should counter the inaccurate information in the question for the benefits of other people who read the post and may consider it to be true.

Regards

Not always. I think some people who believe otherwise truly want to understand how someone else can believe what they do because it seems so ridiculous to them. This could be said for most everyone here. We all look at certain "other" beliefs and ask ourselves, "That seems foreign/freaky/wrong to me. Why?" So we ask.

What I find more insteresting is how people's answers are often given a thumbs up or thumbs down more often based on agreement or disagreement with theology rather than the quality of the answer.

Not at all!. Catholicism has been around for 2000 years and criticized, laughed at, spat at, accused, defamed, persecuted, martyred.; the only thing that loses power is the "entertainer" and those who use it for their own selfish purposes. They who claim a privilege which does not exist, to make fun of something sacred to others defame themselves; they certainly are not favored amongst the thousands of Catholics and possibly other Christians; so who loses?. The Christian Faith is empowered by supernatural factors and the holiness of worthy men and women who contribute to society.If Christianity were a social institution, no doubt it would lose power, fortunately it does not have to depend entirely on the shifting currents of an era nor the self-opinionated humor opinion of comedians. Moreover, in the case of Catholicism, It just keeps going on. Now that's 'funny', isn't it? However, not all humor is meant to be offensive, this Catholics can take and in fact use.They don't feel less empowered.

Good question...

When a Jewish man asked the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) if he could ask him a question, the Prophet first asked him, will it benefit you in any way if i answer you, to which the man replied "i will listen with attentive ears" showing thats he sincerely wanted an answer.

I also feel the same sometimes, if people are sincere, then i think it is definatly worth answering them so long as we answer with honesty and facts. If someone seeks the truth and we do not tell them, we could be held accountable by our Creator!

It is so good to see others that think the same way!! These people aren't on here to add to anything or to ask honest questions, they just want to spew their hate for Christians and others of faith. I had thought I'm no longer going to answer them cause they just take pleasure in our defense and in their minds they are right. Besides God is our Defender and not a one of those that want to attack can ever claim victory against Him! He will always prevail. So I know I'm no longer going to answer those that spew hate. Those who honestly question or maybe those not sure and such I would becouse you never know when you have a chance to witness to them. God Bless you!

God has given us our minds to think with and it honours him to use them. Clearly there is only one true religion we are here because we need to listen and learn. Yes some people are a bit naughty with their question and answers, but most are searching for the truth
Much Love

I have had many ask questions like this. I do take time to answer them. Why...look at the words to this song by Dottie Rambo and then check out the story behind the song in the first link below.

Amazing grace will always be my song of praise
For it was grace that brought me liberty.
I can not know just why He came to love me so;
He looked beyond my faults and saw my needs.

I shall forever lift mine eyes to Calvary
To view the cross where Jesus died for me.
How marvelous that grace that caught my falling soul;
He looked beyond my faults and saw my needs.

I shall forever lift mine eyes to Calvary
To view the cross where Jesus died for me.
How marvelous that grace that caught my falling soul;
He looked beyond my faults and saw my needs.

He looked beyond my faults and saw my needs.

My friend, even when provoked...I look behind the fault and see the need...and I have seen wonderful results. One man called me at 3 AM one night cussing me out and I listened for 15 minutes. I chose to allow the abuse because he was doing it because of what he knew I said about my LORD. By 4 AM, his anger was gone..He met ...the PRINCE OF PEACE.

You know..I do not like getting cussed out in the middle of the night..but the results was worth it...

We are told not to cast our pearls before swine. These people's questions, you're in reference to, are not worth responding to. Sometimes it's hard to tell if someone is sincere or not but those who are obviously just creating dissension are not worth acknowledging. If everyone would ignore them, they wouldn't get their jollies and would go away.
