well, my inclination is that yes, there should be some general rules of respect. People go there to worship God, and so they should show respect. And they should also show respect to the other worshippers, so as not to disturb the other people or prevent them from having the closest encounter with God they can have.

Yes. The place of worship has to given a respect otherwise people would turn it into a market place. After all, man is famous for distorting correct beliefs overtime to an altogether wrong belief. See for example, how people in the past have managed to associate partners with God despite repeated reminders by Prophets.
To summarize, everything starts as a small and seemingly insignificant but as time goes on it is turned into a norm which becomes much more prevalent and probably the most important. There are loads of such examples in history.

Yes, there should be rules. The house of worship is a place that belongs to the Lord. A place where all come in reverence to worship and glorify the Almighty. So, we need to show due respect and also teach our children how to behave in the house of the Lord. So many children do not know how to show respect in the Lord's house because the parents do not teach them. So you have children running around and making noise. This should never happen in God's house.

There are rules to everything, or in other words, laws. Our obedience to those laws gaurantees us a specific result. A house of worship wouldn't be a house of worship if the spirit of worship was not there. Therefore, to have a house of worship, you must obey the laws that will invite the spirit of worship there. Man cannot decide what the laws to invite the spirit of worship are. Only the Amighty, who created us, and from whom the spirit of worship comes. The best place to write the laws of worship is in the heart. Until then, these laws do us no good.

No, not really, because many times rules make prideful people scoff. That may deter people from attending. Our church does have a posted rule that asks us to keep all food and beverages (except water) out of the sanctuary; this is because the coffee stains can be difficult to scrub out of the carpet. I think that most people know not to run in buildings... I just don't think it's really necessary.

Religious places of worship are places where people congregate. Rules are intended to make sure the place is safe, comfortable, and worshipful for all people there.
The no running, and no eating rules may be in place because running creates sounds, which disrupts worship. No eating rules are in place because eating creates sounds, and makes the carpet and chairs dirty, and may attract unwanted insects and rodents.

There should be common sense, and people should follow the dictates of their conscience as being trained by their religious beliefs.

I think that we need to reverence God in his house. He is God of order and so I think there should be some guidlines, but I am not a prophet so I don't know what those guidlines should be
