I dont want to get any slurs started by this question; but I am truly interested in the answer. People such as the WatchTower door - to - door greeters, all I've ever heard is how you shouldn't even go to the door, and the pamplets they leave behind are treated as if theyre infected with anthrax or something. All I've managed to gather from own observations is that the jewish girl I went to school with was the only one who didnt have to say the pledge of allegiance & did not participate in the christmas gift exchanges, they stay to themselves, go to their own church and live in their own part of the town which you are advised not to go in unless you yourself are jewish & invited there... What's it all about?
> P.S. If it matters, I am Christian, but not nessasarly a devoted practicing christian

A great french philospher onces said "we are taught everything we need to know instead of searching for ourselve, which makes us believe a lot but know little". could it be that people get so upset when something is said contrary to their belief because they don't know but only believe, and if you prove them wrong they lose their fondation? And that could be a very scary thing. People just want to be taught because it is easier then finding it for themselves. But the problem with that is that they are easily led astray and since they don't think for themselves they cannot find their way back. so the question stands why do people get so upset when something contrary to what they believe is said?

Is it implied somewhere in the christian faith, if not in the bible, that you MUST stay in the same church? I have never heard such a thing even suggested before today, so the previous post about this shocked me terribly. What happens to you in your belief system if you leave your church? What happens to you in your belief system if you convert to a different form of christianity?

Honestly, if there's nothing in the bible about it, can someone please explain (their take on it/opinion, of course) where this belief would come from?

If it is because of some religious belief, then shouldn't their individual beliefs be just as protected as your own?
(This is for everyone who will inevitably say that the Bible says it's wrong)

I have heard from countless numbers of Muslims they believe in Jesus Christ as a prophet (thus making them also his followers/disciples), but I find this very perplexing.

As a prophet, then therefore a spokesperson for God. His disciples must therefore believe in all His teachings. If Muslims hold Christ as a prophet, then are they not also His disciples, believing in His words? Do Muslims really accept Jesus Christ as the Savior of the World, the Resurrection, the Son of God, Alpha and Omega, even the God of this world, the Prince of Peace, even the Great I Am? Also, how can a Muslim accept Jesus Christ as a prophet and not heed His teachings to be baptized?

"And he hath said: Repent all ye ends of the earth, and come unto me, and be baptized in my name, and have faith in me, that ye may be saved." (Moro. 2:2)

"Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit." (Matt. 28:19)

Someone please help me out here.

If you will meet or ask anyone about his religion, he/she will say that it is the right and lonely religion. What do you think about the true, right, unique, divine, eternal, supported by messengers and prophets, contemporary, and last religion?

My wife (catholic) and I decided before we had children that we would let them make their own minds up after they are old enough to really understand religions. But my mother-in-law began her indoctrination of my oldest child into Christianity years ago, and now I am afraid she will start on my other children. She secretly had my first son baptised! I kid you not. After that I refused to leave her alone with my other kids for any length of time. I do not want my children filled with this type of brainwashing.

So last year I let my oldest stay over her house for the night, (she's his grandmother,I can only forbid it so long if my wife wants it) so she started telling him about heaven and jesus and all the other myths that Christianity is based on. This after I spoke to her about not proseletyzing my children! So now I have to make the decision, should I never let my children stay at her house, or take the chance that she will start pushing her deluded view of the world on them again?

The Biblical description of the flood in Genesis chapter 6, 7 and 8 indicates that the deluge was universal and it destroyed every living thing on earth, except those present with Noah (pbuh) in the ark. The description suggests that the event took place 1656 years after the creation of Adam (pbuh) or 292 years before the birth of Abraham, at a time when Noah (pbuh) was 600 years old. Thus the flood may have occurred in the 21st or 22nd Century B.C.
This story of the flood, as given in the Bible, contradicts scientific evidence from archaelogical sources which indicate that the eleventh dynasty in Egypt and the third dynasty in Babylonia were in existence without any break in civilisation and in a manner totally unaffected by any major calamity which may have occurred in the 21st century B.C. This contradicts the Biblical story that the whole world had been immersed in the flood water.

so whats wrong here

If Jesus was to walk the earth, do you think we would know, or could he be one of those nuts that we lock up, or a bum we throw money to, or look with disgust? How would it be any different now as it was then?

you guys say you teach your kid from birth so they know god. but if you brainwash your kid into believing god, instead of letting them chose on their own, do you think that is what god had in mind when he gave us free will? (keep in mind the only logical reason to give us free will was so that we would come to him on our own. so that we wouldnt be like robots, programmed to believe - which is basically what your doing when you ONLY teach your child one thing from birth and teach it as an absolute truth) dont you think its ironic that god gave us free will only to have you take it away from your children?
