If Jesus was to walk the earth, do you think we would know, or could he be one of those nuts that we lock up, or a bum we throw money to, or look with disgust? How would it be any different now as it was then?

Depends on how he comes. As a millionaire, an average man or as pauper?
Since we live in a material world and success have always been measured on how much money is in your pocket and millionaires making lots of charitable donations such Gates, Buffett and Oprah Winfrey, if anyone of them claims to be the Second Jesus will not be hard for people to believe. Everybody will be at their door making ways to be recognized and/ be helped.
On the other hand, if we find him to be walking on the street looking like a hobo, then it won't even take a minute and he will either be suspected for drug use, homeless bum or he could be locked up for loitering the streets
And if he comes like a man of average status, then he probably would hide himself from being known because average life is just good thing to happen to anyone for you do not need to fear about being kidnapped for ransom, you can come home drunk as long as you don't drive. Who would need Jesus when everybody is living just fine? no hang ups.

Jesus will walk the earth again someday. When he comes, however, he will not come walking but in a cloud. It will be at the rapture of his church. He will call out o his sheep and his sheep will know his voice and go to him. Toward the end of the great tribulation, he will walk the earth again. After Satan, the Antichrist and the False Prophet have been deposited where they belong, Jesus will rule the earth for a thousand years. We will know him.

Considering the fact that the Gospels were first set down some 50-100 years after his death, and that (in my opinion) most Christians do not practice what he was really preaching, I doubt we'd recognise him if he came as an ordinary guy. Humankind would probably call him names and reject him, just as we did the first time. It's a lot easier to be self-richeous than to actually lead a good life.

Jesus could be walking the earth even as we speak just to simply see how people will treat him. However when it comes time for the 2nd coming there will be no mistaking his appearance.

I believe Our Lord Jesus Christ, will only reveal Himself to people right now, who deserve to show Himself to.
If you are not godly or holy and pure of heart, mind and soul, I do not think He will show Himself to you or to anyone for that matter.

It was allegory then, it's allegory now.
It's "allegory" in both "covenants": Gal 4.

Peace with God is "through Jesus Christ".
Through Jesus->Christ ends with "Christ".
Christ is our peace who abolished the law.

Jesus: division and not peace
Christ: peace and not divided
Pst - mark & avoid them which cause divisions

If ye be risen with Jesus, remain standing
If ye be risen with Christ, please be seated

The over-all more-all: grace is sufficient.

The GRACE of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.
