Religion bashers, I invite you to specifically paste something worse than this:
Quran 18:86 “(Zul-qarnain TRAVELLED till) when he reached the setting of the sun, he FOUND IT set IN A SPRING of murky water: NEAR IT (sun in spring) he found a People” http://www.usc.edu/dept/MSA/quran/018.qmt.html#018.086
WHO CAN BEAT THAT...I CHALLENGE ANYONE TO MATCH THIS KIND OF STUPIDITY.
This the clearest possible encapsulation of the the MYTH OF THE SUN SETTING INTO THE EARTH.
In Muhammad's time, it was common for men to look at the sun setting in the distance, and without any understanding of space, think that the sun was literally setting into some place or cave or mud pit on earth.
Muslims werent the only people to believe this of course, but what I am pointing out is how PERFECTLY THE QURAN CAPTURES THIS MYTH FROM ITS TIME!
Notice the language. Zul Qarnain is travelling to some place, hes not sitting still and observing, he "REACHES" the place where the SUN SETS "IN".
