A Missouri judge gave a woman probation in a forgery case but told her if she gets pregnant and has another child out of wedlock she will go to jail.

She was also ordered to do community service, pay restitution and go back to school and acquire her GED or high school diploma.

Your thoughts?

**note: after leaving the court the woman told the media that she had already had an operation after the birth of her third child to make her sterile.

Who will pay for the baby. If society will, then answer is: he was within our rights. Whether you steal from a bank or purposefully take from the public dole, you have taken our money.

If she pays for the child, then he had no right, unless she was a menace.

Sorry for being simplistic, but, why be complex?

I'm going strictly on what you've said here, so my answer might be different if I read the story for myself. But I'm lazy so I won't.

Yes, he was way out of line. Even if the woman were a convicted child abuser, no one - NO ONE - has the right to stop her from having children.

As much as I wish that some people be sterilized, I have to be fair and say that if I don't want governmental strictures that I don't agree with, I should also be opposed to those that I do agree with.

When she stated IN COURT AND ON THE RECORD that she was using forgery to support her three kids? Then no. He didn't go to far.

She needs to get a job. Creating another mouth to feed would just cause her to forge more.

He was right on. But I think he should have advised her to have psychiatric help. A woman like that does what she does, sleeping around and trying to keep a man by getting pregnant, because she's very insecure.

You mean to tell me that this judge sentenced this poor woman to do the things that she should have allready done on her own? Who would ever think that you should have a high school diploma before you have children? As you can see, I am on the side of the judge, and think there should be more people as concerned as he is. What he did has nothing to do with that woman, and everything to do with her kids.

A judge can suspend a sentence contingent upon the subject's avoiding illegal activity. A judge cannot suspend a sentence contingent upon the subject's choice to do or not do something that is completely legal, just because the judge doesn't personally care for it.

I'd imagine there was more to it than that, but he was just pointing out obvious ways to avoid having to resort to forgery.

The point was that if you are going to show you will be irresponsible (assuming she did not have the money to afford another kid on her own) then you will have to go to jail.

I'm not saying it wasn't kind of a dumb move on the judge's part, but merely sound advice, really.

If she was milking the system in that manner, that is probably why. Here in Maine, they can't make you get sterilized, but they can shut you off if you keep getting pregnant while getting assistance. They give you the choice, get your tubes tied or lose your benefits. It's a win-win situation.

enable HE without SIN forged the 1st STONE!!!!!!!!!!! You made a mistake study from it bypass get a job and help help your baby. unfastened housing? no, you will pay hire based on your earnings. foodstuff stamps? sure, yet you need to tutor the corporation which you're working or attempting to artwork. for my section the individuals who use government tips and don't attempt and pay their dues to Society (artwork) are people who're maximum widely judged by way of their fellow aspects. I have not have been given any admire for people who "use the device". i do despite if have admire for people who easily want that tips. I easily have use it for form of six months, I easily have a spouse and a couple of youngsters, she develop into on a scientific depart (non paid) for some scientific issues and that i had lost my job, yet my young toddlers had to consume. so till i've got been given back on my ft we had foodstuff stamps. yet as quickly as we the two had a job back we had stopped making use of them. this is what the help courses have been made for, no longer for unfastened loaders that isn't get a job. Some people are just not parents, so yes, I agree with the judges decision. If you are in jail all the time, how can you take care of your kids?

Reproduction MAY be a right, but too many who practice it forget about the responsibility of it and expect the rest of us to pay for it. Good for the judge. I wish more had his b*lls.
