A Deist believes there is a god of some sort, a supreme being that created the universe in the remote past, but that doesn't get involved in the day to day micromanagement of said universe. Deists don't believe in organized religions, or the god of the bible or the koran. Deists don't believe it is possible to communicate with this being, and don't believe in a heaven or hell. Some believe death is a transition to another state of universal conciousness.

A deist is someone who believes that God created man and the universe, and then walked away to leave man all alone. This is an non-biblical approach to Christianity.

I am a Deist. I believe in God the creator. I do not believe in organized religion. I do not believe that the Bible is the word of God. I do not believe that Jesus is God's virgin-birthed son, but a loving philosopher at the most. I believe in science. I believe that if we began with the Big Bang, then that is how God started everything. I believe in evolution.

A person who believes that there is a god.
That god created everything in the beginning and then just stood back and is watching to see what will happen.
The God of the Bible is not such a god, He intervenes all the time to do what is according to His word.
