I think the fear is based not upon the truth of evolution, but upon the possibility that evolution could displace the Bible. This is the same fear that caused Galileo to be imprisoned by the Church.
The only way to assuage that fear is to show that God created the Universe in a time period different than seven of today's days. Time in the ancient world used a different period than today and seven days in God's time may be much longer than seven of today's calendar days.
Take care,
Troy

It can't. Fear of the unknown can be addressed only by familarity with that which was unknown and feared. However, religious fundamentalists who fear the facts of evolution will never become familiar with the facts because they won't look honestly at the evidence. They are apparently so insecure in their own religious beliefs that they fear exposure to scientific truth, lest their beliefs be plainly exposed as erroneous. Fortunately many other Christians are fully secure in their beliefs, and do not fear scientific discovery, knowing that no genuine truth can conflict with any other genuine truth.

...It can't - there is no truth in evolution. I don't fear imaginary things. How can you calm something that isn't there?
...You really ought to be honest and say evolution is a theory.
...Why don't you ask - "How can the fear of the truth of intelligent design/creationism be calmed (means the same as assuaged)"?

...Some fear is good for you, though...observe:
..."The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction." Proverbs 1:7
***********************************************
...In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. Genesis 1:1
***********************************************
...The Gospel of John, chapter 1
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 He was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.
....
10 He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. 11 He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him.
12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:
13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
15 John bore witness of Him and cried out, saying, “This was He of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me is preferred before me, for He was before me.’”
16 And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace.
17 For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
**********************************************
...Psalm 14:1 & 53:1 "The fool has said in his heart, "There is no God."
***********************************************
...What if the Bible is true? If you die without Jesus, you are in eternal trouble......
...I do wish you a blessed eternity, and I do hope you will trust in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.

The most effective way would be to round up all the brainwashed religious nuts and send them to psychiatrists for deprogramming, although that may not be cost-effective.

It can't. If they don't want to listen, f/uck 'em. I'm not the moron who thinks two people were responsible for creating all of humanity. If that's true we're all inbreds. Not a pleasant thought..
