Your self centered goal is kill egos of believers. You don't have a clue what believers pray for and it is definitely not self centered. Try not to pamper ur ego by asking asinine questions. Scratch that off ur goal list!

No the main goal of what prayers should be is to give thanks to what you already have, and know just by asking you shall receive.
To walk with the path of god is to know you have everthing, and nothing. It is the void without ego, and I would like to say I have accomplished that task, but then I would be lying because afterall I am still a man(actually a woman) but you get the drift. And I think if I did accomplish this then I would no longer be in this realm of existance.

The main goal of religion is not to kill the ego. Religion functions as a guide for societies norms and values.

I disagree. You have to have an ego in order to think you're so important that you MUST go on after your death (unlike all the other creatures on the planet which just die).

Christianity seems to have nothing to do with anything but reassuring the ego these days

By killing the ego, you also kill the free will. I hear the religious use the 'free will' argumant all day long. I think that being controled by fear of hell is eliminating the possibility of ever having free will again.

We dampen the ego so that we may see God. The ego can never be killed on this earthly plane----it is too powerful. It can only be restrained.

What religion R U talking about? As a Christian, it's my desire to live a life pleasing to God, following and worshiping Him...so I don't know what you're talking about.

Your main goal should be more like Christ( if that is your belief)
which means you should be kind, patience and understanding and etc. You won't be perfect because no one is perfect
