If you study the statistics you see that there are very few pedophile priests. Most of the priests labeled as pedophile (attracted to pre-pubescent children) are not. The majority of the cases were homosexual in nature. You could say it was mostly a homosexual club that preyed on teenage boys.

Is there no limit to ignorance and bigotry? Fewer than 1% of Catholic priests have been accused of any kind of sexual impropriety. And many of those accusations, based on supposed "sudden recall of suppressed memories" were blatant efforts to grab some cash through class action suits. Furthermore, virtually none of the charges that have been brought against priests have involved actual pedophilia. Almost all such cases involve adolescent boys, which means the acts were homosexual in nature, not pedophilic. The secular press invariably refers to such cases as "pedophilia" in order to evoke an emotional response, and to avoid casting homosexuality in a negative light, since support of homosexuality is one of the pet agendas of the liberal secular media. There is no evidence to suggest that homosexual acts against minors by Catholic priests are any more common than among any other group of men; and cases of actual pedophilia are far less common among priests than among men in the population at large. If cases involving priests seem more common, you can thank the media for brainwashing you. Any priest in the country who commits such a crime appears on the front page of every newspaper in the country, while most of the thousands of cases involving scout leaders, guidance counselors, rabbis, youth ministers, doctors, and the principle group of offenders - teachers - not to mention the many cases involving Grandpa or uncle Harry - never make the paper at all, or get two column inches on page 28.

Well, since homosexuals are forbidden to marry in the Catholic church, many of these men may gravitate towards the priesthood in order to be accepted in the church without getting married. It is unnatural for humans to be celibate, the drive for sex is very strong, and unfortunately, many of these men act out against innocent children. Also, some men who are pedophiles may specifically become priests because it gives them such easy access to minors, and most children are taught to trust and respect the clergy, so it is easier for them to get away with it.

Funny. 99% of priests are sincere, honorable people, just like in any other profession. But the bad priests get the press. The worse problem is the naivete of the bishops who thought the problem would go away by itself.

The question is do people become priests for that reason or do priests warp after awhile and become pedophiles.

It is just that the left wing press loves to make an "example" of them. When a Demorats does something like that, they are made head of their party.

Its not really coincidence....they are sexually repressed all of their lives and it turns them into child molesters...young boys are the easiest for them to prey on...they threaten them with going to hell if they tell and shi*t

frustation let outrageous things come out, they're sexually frustrated and they don wanna admit it ,so they find themself getting intimate with people who don't know about intimacy more than they themselves know (and they know nothing).
Some of them could be real pedophile which could be the hidden reason behind their priesthood in the first place

it is not right to categorize all priests that way
there are some groups of priests with serious sin and addiction problems no doubt... but keep it in perspective please
