If you truly believed your theories of after life, why would you ever need to pray for the dead?
If they were good, they are in whatever heaven you believe in, yes?
If they were bad, surely they are languishing in some hell...
So just what on earth are you praying FOR ?
What could it possibly achieve?

Please dont take offence, I am just curious.

Jesus Christ is the best gift God could ever give.

God so loved the sinful, lost, depraved world that He gave His very best.

Can you imagine what it would be like to reject what God considers to be His greatest gift?

The purpose of God giving His gift was to save men, not condemn them.

“God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes on Him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16, NIV).

Who will be saved? Only those who believe on Christ will be saved.

What about those who will not believe? The Bible tells us Christ died for men. But that does not automatically bring salvation to anyone. No person is saved unless he or she believes on Christ. To refuse God’s good gift is to be judged already.

Who is already judged? “Whoever does not believe stands condemned already because He has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son” (v. 18, NIV). Those who do not believe on Jesus Christ are already judged.

God’s purpose was not to judge the world, even though it was worthy of judgment and condemnation (Rom. 3:10-11; Isa. 53:6). Every one of us stands condemned before God’s judgment because we are guilty. We have broken His law. We have rejected the light He has given us.

Man is already condemned because of his sin. We are already under God’s wrath. The emphasis in verse 18 is on the continuing state of unbelief that results in a continuing state of condemnation for the unbeliever.

The person who refuses to believe is already under God’s wrath. Have you believed in Jesus, or have you refused to believe and are still in the category of one who stands condemned by God?

In strong contrast John 3:18 says, “He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God” (NASB).

There are really only two choices. Have you believed on Jesus Christ? Do you believe that you are a sinner, condemned and under the judgment of God? Do you believe that Jesus Christ is God’s gift of salvation and that He died for you? Have you asked Him to be your Savior?

The only other choice is to do nothing. And if you choose to do nothing you remain under judgment. “Whoever does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” “Whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.”

Let's not fail to comprehend or stress an important biblical truth that salvation is for all who believe on Christ Jesus, but condemnation and judgment is on all who do not believe on Him. The consequences of that judgment depends upon each individual's relationship with Christ Jesus (John 3:16-21; 5:24).

Who will be the judge? God has committed all judgment to Christ (5:22, 27). He goes on to speak of Christ as judging (5:30; 8:16, 26) or not judging (8:15, 16; 12:47), and of His word as judging men (12:48). His judgment is just (5:30) and it is true (8:16).

We are already under condemnation because we are sinners. Sin has ruined us. Moreover, John 3:19 tells us we are condemned because we actually prefer sin to the light of God’s righteousness in Jesus Christ. “Light” has come in the person of Jesus Christ, but men and women have turned from it. The bottom line is we really do not want what God wants for us until the Holy Spirit regenerates our heart.

What men and women do with Christ Jesus now determines what will happen when they stand before Him on judgment day.

Because sinful man would prefer spiritual darkness, if you love the light, it is only because God’s regenerating Spirit is working in your heart. You can come out of darkness into the light today if you will respond to the Holy Spirit’s illuminating power and presence. To everyone who believes on Christ, the Word of God says, “Therefore, there is now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus” (Romans 8:1).

Salvation is BELIEVING in Jesus Christ!

Salvation is trusting or believing in, by faith, that Jesus Christ paid for your sins with His blood on the cross of Calvary.

"He that BELIEVETH on the Son hath everlasting life:. . ." John 3:36

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever BELIEVETH in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16
We are NOT saved by WORKS!

The Bible makes it clear that OUR WORKS has nothing whatsoever to do with our salvation.

We don't receive it by our works - and we don't keep it by our works!

" NOT BY WORKS of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us,. . ." Titus 3:5

"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: NOT OF WORKS, lest any man should boast." Ephesians 2:8,9
Salvation is a FREE GIFT!

Salvation is the free gift of God. If we had to work to keep it - it would not be a free gift - and God would be a liar!

". . . the GIFT of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23

". . .by the righteousness of one THE FREE GIFT came upon all men unto justification of life." Romans 5:18
Salvation is a NEW BIRTH!

Salvation is not enduring or a process, but an event in time. Salvation is a NEW BIRTH. Just as your first birth happened on a certain time and day, so does the second birth.

"(For he saith, I have heard thee in a TIME accepted, and in THE DAY OF SALVATION have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted TIME; behold, now is THE DAY OF SALVATION.)" 2 Corinthians 6:2

"Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be BORN AGAIN, he cannot see the kingdom of God." John 3:3

"Being BORN AGAIN, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever." 1 Peter 1:23
You become a CHILD OF GOD!

Once you are born again SPIRITUALLY - you become a child of God.

"Beloved, NOW are we the SONS OF GOD, . . ." 1 John 3:2

"For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of ADOPTION, whereby we cry, Abba, FATHER." Romans 8:15
Nothing can SEPARATE us from our Father!

Just as nothing can "negate" your physical birth, nothing can "negate" your spiritual birth.

My children will always be my children. We may have troubled times. Our fellowship may be broken, but our relationship can never be broken. They will always be my children. Nothing or nobody can change that! And once you are born again spiritually - God becomes your Father - nothing or nobody can change that! Your fellowship may be broken, but your relationship can never be broken!

"For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, SHALL BE ABLE TO SEPARATE US from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8:38

"My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand." John 10:29
Jesus will NEVER leave us!

Jesus promised He will never leave us. Jesus could not say this if there was even a chance of losing our salvation.

". . .for he hath said, I WILL NEVER LEAVE THEE, nor forsake thee." Hebrews 13:5

". . . and, lo, I am with you ALWAY, even unto the end of the world. Amen." Matthew 28:20
We already HAVE eternal life!

When the Bible speaks of possessing eternal life, it speaks in the present tense (hath, have, etc.) - SOMETHING WE ALREADY HAVE! If we had to work or endure to keep our salvation, this could not be true.

"He that believeth on the Son HATH EVERLASTING LIFE:.. ." John 3:36

"These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that YE HAVE ETERNAL LIFE,. . ." 1 John 5:13

"Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, HATH EVERLASTING LIFE,. . ." John 5:24

There are multiple stories in the bible telling about how god was directly involved with the killing of many people. The 2 that stand out the most is 1) when he gives moses the power to part the red sea to help the escaping people...which he then crashed upon egyptian troops killing them all...and 2) god flooded the earth killing every single human being, every single animal on this earth besides noah and 2 of each animal...killing that many people i would certainly call a sin...

1. Most Everyone has an exceptional sense of humor.
2. The regular people no matter what their belief or disbelief is.. kinda have a respect for one another.
3. It's just plain fun to hear other peoples view and imagine what they are really like

Do you agree or disagree?

At what age did you become saved?
Where you babtised as a child?
If so did you feel the need to be babtised again at an older age?

I was babtised when I was very young. I didn't know Jesus even was at the time, I just did it because my parents wanted me to.

I excepted the Lord at the age of 23 and was babtised again. I felt like it was better making the decision as an adult.

What are your views on this?

If a God was powerful enough to create a universe, or even a world. Omnipotent enough to read( think hard about this ) EVERY thought, and hear every word, and see every action.. of every person in the world all at the same time! Would that being really choose to speak in riddles to random individuals? Would that being not just tell everyone at once? Why not just BE HERE ?? What does God have to hide for? What would God have to lose, it`s not like we aren`t used to the idea of God by now is it......

This is genuine curiosity, dont take offence

Not just for christians.. try this on whatever faith you like.

If the penalty for all your sins has been paid, then can you consider yourself sinless even though you're a habitual sinner?definitely. Jesus paid for all your sins(past, present and future)--you just need to admit that that is you need to be a Christian. You can be a habitual sinner but as a Christian all your sins will be paid for. It's like pouring water into a jar with a hole in it's bottom. Your sins are the water, the jar is you and the hole is created in the jar by Jesus--the moment you accepted his sacrifice. So, what is the meaning of repentance for sins?
You already repented for all your past, present and future sins the moment you accepted Christ. Why Jesus told the woman-"Go and sin no more". It's because Jesus was still uncrucified at the time. Some Christians are wrong in saying that we need to ask forgiveness.
no--it's not a master or servant relationship that we have with Jesus--such that we have to ask for his mercy everytime we sin. if somebody ask forgiveness for any sin--it implies that he have deep in his heart real doubt that all his future sins were forgiven as well. so, sin boldly. If you are a preacher of mercy, do not preach an imaginary but the true mercy. If the mercy is true, you must therefore bear the true, not an imaginary sin. God does not save those who are only imaginary sinners. Be a sinner, and let your sins be strong (sin boldly), but let your trust in Christ be stronger, and rejoice in Christ who is the victor over sin, death, and the world. We will commit sins while we are here, for this life is not a place where justice resides. We, however, says Peter (2. Peter 3:13) are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth where justice will reign.

Mithraic studies show that Mithras was not born of a virgin, but rather hatched from a rock under a tree on the banks of a river. And the New Testament says nothing about Christ being born on Dec. 25th... that's just Christian holiday tradition.

People here said that the purpose of the Tree was to give Adam and Eve free will and the ability to make their own choices.

This leads me to think they must have been mindless robots unable to do anything they wanted prior to that? Didn't God command Adam to name the animals? He had his own free will and choice in deciding to do that. Were they slaves in the garden of eden unable to do what they wanted?
