Don't be mean to people our job as Christians is to show love, if we are calling people ignorant or other names that makes look false and hypocritical our job is to encourge and support people when they have questions...that may help them come to find what we have found.

If a Christian acts in this manner you may want to consider wether they are actually a Christian. Yes people on both sides of the fence act this way, but as Christians who should know better it is completely inappropriate. So I agree, but I also understand how it can be frustrating and easy to take things personal, but remember when people post questions that offend you, that it has nothing to do with you persoanlly, but more of an attact on God directly.

I agree with you. Although, admittadly, there are probably times when I have not been as loving as God would have wanted me to. I try not to be rude, and I hope that I usually succeed.

However, we are not ALWAYS called to be polite. John the Baptist, Jesus and Paul all insulted people in the Bible. "Brood of Vipers," "white-washed wall," "You stupid Galatians!" - just to name a few. There is a time for nicety, and there is a time to call it like it is. When someone attacks the Bible with false information, "ignorant" is not inappropriate, for example. However, if someone just doesn't know and is asking, it is completely inappropriate.

Paul was never politically correct, and he was often offensive. He was that way on purpose. It got a reaction. I think we need to be more concerned about the truth than we need to be concerned about offending people. When people are offended they remember what was said to them, and the replay it over and over, and that can make someone think. For example, homosexuality is a perversion of what God intended for sex. I think we need to start using the word pervert to describe homosexuals. However, this should not be done just to be mean spirited. It should be done in a way to shock people and to get them to think, not as a personal attack.

I have seen this done well, and I have seen this done much more horribly than I've seen here. I have seen someone tell a gay man, for example, "You realize that this is a perversion of God's plan, and that it makes you a pervert, don't you? You know you don't have to be a pervert, don't you?", and I've seen people calling pregnant mothers homosexual bastards for going to planned parenthood (I'm pretty sure the fact that they were pregnant meant they weren't homosexuals).

Yes, we need to watch our tone. If we use negative words it should be for a purpose. We should NEVER be negative towards those that are honestly seeking truth. We don't need to tiptoe around others feelings either, however. Not defending God's Son, God's church, and God's word makes us much more hypocritical than calling someone ignorant.

May God bless you.

This is a common trait among small minded people convinced they "have the truth". What can you do about them? Nothing!! It is not their Christian beliefs that makes them act like that, it's their small mindedness. I am a Gnostic Christian and I pray to GOD I never talk down to anyone with one exception. There are those who can irritate a saint.

Who are you to judge who is rude, not all Christians are being rude on here, and many are just frustrated with the lack of respect people are showing towards the Lord.

Mercedesofladies, you must not have been on this site for very long. Here are some questions that Christians have asked. And yes, they're derogatory.
