Why not just believe what the bible says?

I'm a christian and I try to believe what the bible actually says - not adding some confusing doctrine and telling people they have to believe it.

God's word says in Deuteronomy 6:4
"Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD"

and his Son Jesus Christ said in Mark 12:29
"And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord"

How could you try to get people to believe that Jesus was God and that he died and rose himself from the dead? If you are dead then you're dead and you'd have no power to do anything.

I believe Jesus Christ is the son of God and he did all God asked him to do. He's our example and lived a sinless life. If he was God then it wouldn't have been much of a challenge to live perfectly and obtain salvation. Why didn't God just make things right when Adam sinned?

If you have an answer to this please show me how the bible answers this one - not your own doctrine.

Pretty creepy to me but the rational part of my brain says it is probably nothing more than a sheer coincidence..the pokemon one creeps me out most. Sounds like he's saying 'I love Satan' over and over again quite clearly...Do you think they did this purpously or is it just coincidental?

Yes it's true folks - It's been scientifically calculated and verified to over 6 billion decimal places. The probability of an intelligent god just existing fully formed and functional with no cause or origin is so infinitesimally small that it has to be rejected as utterly impossible.

By a spooky coincidence, it's exactly as likely as if a tornado swept through an junkyard and threw together a fully formed Boeing 747, complete with passengers... and 57 different versions of the Holy Bible. You'd have to be completely nuts to believe this could happen!

If I for instance said I believed I could fly because it makes my life complete, or it gives me hope, or it makes me treat others well, or I can't imagine my life without it - you'd think I was deranged. What I'm saying is that it'd be socially unacceptable to believe something was true just because of the good effects you experienced from that belief - you'd actually have to demonstrate it WAS true, by providing evidence or argument.

I'm not saying here that nobody defends religious beliefs in other ways, or that they can't be defended in other ways. I'm just saying - what the hell is this particular argument all about?

Why there are so many planets in space? For what ? They were put in there for a reason right?

Jesus Prays in Gethsemane

36Then Jesus went with them to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to his disciples, "Sit here, while I go over there and pray." 37And taking with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, he began to be sorrowful and troubled. 38Then he said to them, "My soul is very sorrowful, even to death; remain here, and watch[a] with me." 39And going a little farther he fell on his face and prayed, saying, "My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will." 40And he came to the disciples and found them sleeping. And he said to Peter, "So, could you not watch with me one hour? 41Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak." 42Again, for the second time, he went away and prayed, "My Father, if this cannot pass unless I drink it, your will be done." 43And again he came and found them sleeping, for their eyes were heavy. 44So, leaving them again, he went awa

Let me explain; In 1991 I was diagnosed with End Stage Renal Disease and informed at the age of 22 that within 6 months I would have to be on dialysis to remain alive. I had just burried my daughter at her birth due to this problem. I was told I would not be able to conceive again nor bare a live child. I had experienced 4 miscarriages and that stillbirth. I prayed and cried to God. I cannot explain things but here I am 37, and two healthy sons. My renal function is still considered perilous and near failure yet I live each day as well as the one before it. There is no explanation that my doctors can give. I believe God is responsible. This is just my personal journey although some will choose to disbeleive. I am not seeking to convert, but asking if anyone else has had such an experience.
Peace Be With You,
Debra

I am an atheist. I have never done anything wrong in my life, but a Christian friend of mine told me that I will burn in hell. None of that bothers me at all, because I know that one day she will open her eyes and see the real world, but I have a question for the Christians: Hypothetically, if there is God and judgement and all that, why should I go to hell just for being an atheist? That seems cruel and unfair.

It is explained thruout the bible that we must keep Gods commandmetns and statues, it states that this is not only for israel it is for all mankind. it also says that these things must be done forever and they will be done in the time to come. When the Lord returns do you actually think that his law won't be in existance. The Lords death only replaced 1 law and everyone thinks that it replaced all the law. Only 1
Hbr 10:1 ¶ For the law having a shadow of good things to come, [and] not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect Hbr 10:3 But in those [sacrifices there is] a remembrance again [made] of sins every year.
Hbr 10:4 For [it is] not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins Hbr 10:5 ¶ Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me Hbr 10:7 Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.

I just read the part where Jesus walked on water and thought----
If we have the ability to alter the vibrational rate of the molecular structure by focused intent, then we could in some way have other energy systems agree to respond to our intention because we believe them to occurr. Do we have the power to make our lives the way we want them to be because we choose to do so?
WHY ARE PEOPLE TRYING TO BRING US DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Assuming there is life elsewhere in the universe and the souls of other beings also enter heaven, will all the saved souls from all over the universe be together in the same heaven? Will there also be Wookies, Ewoks, Hutts, Klingons, Romulans, Ferengi, Vulcans, and all other manner of strange creatures in heaven alongside the humans or will they all each go to their own respective Valhallas?

If , as the Armianists teach, he wanted to save everyone and everyone is not saved, then Jesus failed to do what he wanted correct? The Calvinists teach He wanted to save those for whom he died and everyone for whom he died will be saved and none of those he died for will be lost.

I see this question asked a lot towards christians, and without getting angry nor offended they say yes but they continue with their faith.

I ask myself if this ever happens to atheists. That may be the reason why some turn agnostic.

I have never seen an atheist here admitting that.

I now this is a weird question but when anybody tries to prove how existence got started they always blurt out. "what do you think earth came from a cracker jack box. they makes it the most mindlessly slung around theory ever. so I ask you what if it where true. god got done making the universe instead of first saying let there be light he said."let there be snacks". also since theres no good prises in a cracker jack box. whats that say about earth. lastly what would the old testament read like if this where true.

so in conclusion watch what your making into a scientific theory okkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk.
