Why not just believe what the bible says?

I'm a christian and I try to believe what the bible actually says - not adding some confusing doctrine and telling people they have to believe it.

God's word says in Deuteronomy 6:4
"Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD"

and his Son Jesus Christ said in Mark 12:29
"And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord"

How could you try to get people to believe that Jesus was God and that he died and rose himself from the dead? If you are dead then you're dead and you'd have no power to do anything.

I believe Jesus Christ is the son of God and he did all God asked him to do. He's our example and lived a sinless life. If he was God then it wouldn't have been much of a challenge to live perfectly and obtain salvation. Why didn't God just make things right when Adam sinned?

If you have an answer to this please show me how the bible answers this one - not your own doctrine.

I John 5:7 is not part of the actual text - that's why so many bibles omit it.

1 Corinthians 4:6 But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.

That's what I believe - not that Jesus=God=Holy Spirit. I love God and he blesses my life daily. He's gone to amazing lengths to help me understand his will and for that I am thankful. He's brought me from darkness to light - from death unto life.

You damn right. Jesus is NOT God. Read John 1:18, John 14:28 and John 17. Jesus never say HE IS GOD, never.

The religious leaders were trying to explain how Jesus Christ could have always existed along with the Father. They also were trying to explain how the Son and the Father could be one. This is found in the Bible.

Mankind has a need to have an explanation for all things. The Christian religious leaders accommodated us by giving us the Triune God concept. They admitted they could not properly explain the concept and that we must accepted it on faith.

It seems to me that you have pointed out one of the problems with interpreting the Bible literally. It also seems to me that you have spent quality time figuring out what you believe and why. I congraulate you on that.

If a document was found in a cave tomorrow that proved Christ was not born of a virgin birth, he and the father are totally separate beings and he did not become a supreme being until he ascended in to heaven my faith would not be damaged at all. In fact it would be strengthen because that would all make more sense.

The Bible says Christ was human in every way. In my mind if this is true then he had to have a natural birth and could not have been God on earth. Since I believe that to be a possibility I want to follow him even more.

"Why didn't God just make things right when Adam sinned?" Like the rest of us you have a need to have all the answers. Why not just accept that God had a different plan for correcting Adam and Eve's mistake. Why does it matter how the problem was solved as long as it was resolved.

You just contradicted yourself. Believing that Jesus is the Son of God IS THE TRINITY. All the trinity really is, is the Tri-unity of God meaning that he is 1 in essence, 3 in person. Think of "God" as a title and not a person. God the Father, God the son, God the Holy Spirit are all of 1 essence yet they do the will of the Father.

Jesus wasnt God the Father, he was God the son. He was given all authority that God was given and the only reason he was able to live a sinless life.

What happened those 6 times Jesus was worshipped in Matthew? If Jesus were not Gid himself (being 1 with the Father) then he shouldve said "WOHH take it easy there chief! I am just a prophet and man like you!"

Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only. -Matthew 4:10

Then those who were in the boat worshiped him, saying, "Truly you are the Son of God." -Matthew 14:33

Was Jesus confused about who he was? No. He was 1 with the Father and so is the Holy Spirit, that is all the trinity is.

John 1: 1-2
" In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word WAS God. He was in the beginning with God.

John 1: 14
" And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth."

1 John 5:7
For there are three that bear witness in heaven; the Father, the Word and the Holy Spirit; and these three are ONE."

Philippians 2:6-7
" who being in this form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equel with God, but made Himself with no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men."

Its all over the new testament. There are places that speaks of God the Father and other that speaks of the son of God and when Jesus died He said He would send another comforter, the Holy Spirit .Each of the offices have different jobs and all are a part of the God head, all are devine.

God is one being, defined by three distinctnesses. The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

This is just one of those things of faith that I also struggled with, but the deeper I get into the Bible (and having actually started to get more scripture to support the anti-trinity theory), the more I found it to be more likely and probable....than unlikely and improbable.

I can't can't quote Chapter/Verse here, but Jesus said, "My thoughts are not your thoughts, and my ways are not your ways."

We just don't understand the way we are supposed to. Perhaps God is a multidynamic being....omnipotent in every way, but needing to be of the flesh and spirit as well as omnipresent.

Well then believe in God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit...same difference to me, accept one is a man-made term and the other one which means the same thing is in the Bible...whatever...

One of the most compelling verses for me was right in Genesis. Read

Genesis 1:26 "Then God said, "Let US make man in OUR image, in OUR likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth and over all the creatures that move along the ground.

Who is, "US" and "OUR"? Clearly there was someone else there in the beginning of the beginning.

God goes on in verse 27 "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him;..."

We are created 3 in 1 also, "in the same image as God."

BODY, SOUL and SPIRIT. We too are 3 in 1 if you think about it. We have our flesh, our spirit (personality) and of course there is our Soul that will live on forever, either in heaven, may it be so, or in hell, if we choose to deny Christ in our lives.

There are a number of compelling verses that speak to the idea of God being 3 persons in 1. Keep reading through and through. You will see it if you ask Him for eyes to see.

"BETHYBOO" printed some of them above:

Clearly, JESUS IS "THE WORD" and Scripture explains that The Word was with God from everlasting to everlasting with the THREE BEING ONE; 1 John 5:7 -----Thanks Bethyboo!

The word Trinity doesn´t appear in the Bible, neither Catholic, nor Bible...this is called Tradition, it´s not an invention on the Catholic Church...Who created the Universe, the World and We: God Father. who came to save us from our sins: God Son, Jesus. Who came to the Apostles after Jesus ascended to Heaven: Holy Spirit...One God represented in three different forms, but with just one mission: Love us and Free us from sin...Hope this helps!

As to why he didn't just 'make things right' when Adam sinned, that wouldn't have been allowing freedom of choice. Satan had been accusing God of lying to people about what would happen if they ignored him, and if God had altered things right away, where would freedom have been? For there to be real freedom, there has to be not only the choice but also the chance to experience the results of that choice.

Also, you might be interested in reading John 1 where it talks about Jesus - it calls him the Word and says he was not only with God in the beginning, but he actually was God.

God, Jesus, and Holy Spirit are the trinity. Trinity was the name given by man. It means 3 in 1.
