The answer is that people often believe things without knowing why, especially when it comes to religion. Many "mystery" religions, of which most of the major religions are included have a set of dogma, but it's intentionally contradictory or unclear in some way to allow for a diversity of community. The average lay person in a religion is in that religion not as part of an educated, researched decision but because of a familial, social, or political pressure. They believe X is god, not because they really understand the message X taught and how it's different than any other religion but because it's what was nearby when they underwent a religous experience and so that's what they leaned to. And because they cannot defend their faith, they take any alternative to it as an assault on their faith.

they are insecure and choose to seize the floor of certainty with no tussle of any sort so are searching so you might declare definite I agree or be converted. i come across this each and all the time no longer in basic terms with faith. i come across 'chatting' somewhat annoying as - it by no ability is trouble-free yet in basic terms approximately continuously uninteresting and htere are little hooks so you might settle for and be particular the others certainty. i will seem pedantic yet I waste distinctive time being caught up in those form of conversations the place i'm no longer predicted to take area. I even have had to set out a pre -speaking contract with peopel approximately what my situations for listening are. And what precisely they are desiring from me.

I usually don't have that problem. Generally people come to me to ask about GOD. I don't understand that either. Because I rarely speak of GOD in public places. Some have tried to encourage me to become a preacher, but that is not my job, although I thought it was my vocation for awhile.
My relationship with GOD is quite sacred, and I don't discuss personals. I believe the scripture that says to go into your closet to pray to your father in heaven in secret, and he shall reward you openly.
But I digress. I have studied many different religions with many different people and studied theology and the most basic human truth I have found, is that the more a person talks to another about their personal beliefs, the more they push the other person away from belief.
In fact, most people disagree with other people's interpretation of their faith or beliefs.
Mainly I think they think they will gain a place in heaven by their 'good works'. Although if they read their scriptures correctly, they would see that it is faith and not works that gets u to heaven. But paradoxically, faith without works is dead.

Because they are the ones that have the truth........the only truth. If you don't believe me, just ask them.
Most people only want to talk about themselves and what they think & believe because most people are egocentric and totally self-centered. It's rare to find a good listener who is truly interested in your opinion or possibly learning something different than what they already believe.

Okay. I am a christian who doesn't believe in religion, because it has nothing to do with my relationship with God. I let the Bible be my guide and anything that goes against God's word is wrong. You will have a different perspective. No one can stop you from expressing yourself. We will not agree, but I am not here to argue . I am here to speak truth.

Because they are not respectful enough of their religion to get rid of their selfishness. It's B.S,cuz I've got views of my own. It's like that with everything though....just want to hear their own voice and never listen.

Because they believe their way is the only way, and if you should share your demonic opinion, you could share your one-way ticket to hell with them. We can't have that, not can we?
That's called hypocrisy boys and girls.
