Jesus Prays in Gethsemane
36Then Jesus went with them to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to his disciples, "Sit here, while I go over there and pray." 37And taking with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, he began to be sorrowful and troubled. 38Then he said to them, "My soul is very sorrowful, even to death; remain here, and watch[a] with me." 39And going a little farther he fell on his face and prayed, saying, "My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will." 40And he came to the disciples and found them sleeping. And he said to Peter, "So, could you not watch with me one hour? 41Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak." 42Again, for the second time, he went away and prayed, "My Father, if this cannot pass unless I drink it, your will be done." 43And again he came and found them sleeping, for their eyes were heavy. 44So, leaving them again, he went awa

He shows us this side to show us his humanity and reliance on God as a son relies on a father for support when he is going threw some thing hard like in you quote Jesus is about to go threw the suffering of the passion and show us his true humanity.
Jesus prays more then just three times. The word Amen in the Aramaic comes at the end of the conversation so who was Jesus talking to before each one, the Father in heaven.

You are correct (partly) in that Christ and his Father are separate. There is no Trinity, this too is of Pagan origin.
Christ was afraid and wanted not to die on the next day so he asked his Father if it was his will, could he be "let off" from dieing, but God had planned this sacrifice since Genesis 3:15 (before Adam and Eve were evicted from the Garden of Eden). So Christ followed his Fathers wishes to through the end and became our only hope for eternal life. As Gods only son, the Second Adam, he was just that, a perfect godly man who was just what Adam lost, PERFECT UNTIL DEATH. You see God needs an equal sacrifice to what was originally lost, and if Christ had been God/Man this his sacrifice would have MORE than equalled the "pittance" that Adam had lost, but as equals in being "human" they both gave up Perfection but for totally different reasons.
Thus, Christ was not a Prophet but a Sacrifice for sins. A Ransom.

How did the Son of God teach His followers throughout His ministry on earth? Through His examples...ie. Being Baptized by John the Baptist.
Matt 26:36-46 Jesus is teaching humanity about obedience, and the power of submission to God the Father's will. To ask for God the Father's assistance in ALL matters even when things appear to be the darkest. Jesus even prayed to His Father from the cross.
Yet, with all this obedience, submission, and release of self, Jesus gives the ultimate example of power, redemption, and victory over His enemies in His resurrection, and ascension to the Fathers house in heaven.
Prophet?! Certainly not. God the Father states emphatically, "This is my beloved Son with whom I am well pleased".
Importantly, remember Jesus never wrote anything down, but taught strictly in actions to his Apostles and followers.
God in the Three Persons of the Trinity teaches humanity through example, extablishes / fulfills the ancient Covenants, atones for the sins of All humanity, and infuses "saved" humanity with the Gifts of God's Spirit to continue their journey towards heaven.

The sacrifice was being prepared. God was already turning his face away from Christ. His flesh was crying out to be saved and he needed to know that all was right. This is a very normal thing for a human to do. He was being tempted now more then ever as the hour of his physical sacrifice was fast approaching. HE HAD THE SINS OF THE WORLD ON HIM........
Do you think you could handle your own sin much less that of the entire population of all time?

I'm sorry, but it's a shame you Muslims aren't allowed to study the Trinity. It's really not that hard to comprehend. One you can understand and accept the Trinity, you can easily understand all of the paradoxes that confused Mohammad and his heretical Gnostic brethren. His teachings take the Christ out of Christianity. Please review the meaning of the word MESSIAH. Even Mohammad acknowledges Jesus was known as the messiah, but then he altered known scripture and lowered Jesus to the rank of "prophet".
We know you're only doing this because you think God will give you special favors and rewards for trying to destroy Christianity and replace it with Islam. Please stop trying to take the Christ out of Christianity and look at it with an open mind.
Peace.

To me Jesus' prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane is one of the most awesome, most revealing prayers of all. It helps me understand Jesus better and love him all the more. It is a simple prayer, but not simplistic. I find it profound.
Jesus gives his disciples the same advice that he himself will shortly follow: to pray in the crisis, that the temptation will not get the better of them.
Jesus has a mission, a destiny. On earth, Jesus wasn't all knowing. This was part of the glory of divinity that he had voluntarily laid aside for a time (Philippians 2:7) when he "emptied" himself (Greek kenoÅ). As a baby, of course, he did not know all things; he learned them (Luke 2:52). As a boy he began to comprehend. In his teen years he knew more (Luke 2:49). And as he prepared for his ministry before and after his baptism, and then in the desert, the Father revealed to him the full scope of the "cup" that he would drink, the destiny to which he was called, the mission he was sent to accomplish. The scriptures spoke to him as his Father interpreted them to him.
He is the Sacrifice itself. He is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world (John 1:29). He doesn't come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many (Mark 10:45). He is the sin-bearer for the people. He is the righteous one who dies for the sins of the unrighteous to bring them to God (1 Peter 3:18).
In the Garden he can almost feel what it will be like tomorrow when the sheer weight of the sins of his people literally crush him and snuff out his life.
His cup was drunk down to the very dregs, to take on himself the wrath of God that we deserve for our sin.
Can we fault him for praying, "Take this cup from me"?

i have only read a few of these answers and i must stop and reply, how can you use a husband and wife to explain the trinity, with the divorce rate so high ,what if they divorce, can god divorce Jesus,Muslims are encouraged to study other religions, especially christianity and the bible, because christians are the most judgmental of all and they are the ones who seem to have the biggest problem with Muslims. On many different ocassions in the biblle people are referred to as the son of God,are we not all children of God?Name calling does not offend us,but only proves the judgment some christians choose to do to anyone who is not in their cult.if God never changes and he was great enough to forgive sins of Moses&abraham why cant he still be that same God.It is not as if God is not God because of Jesus coming into Play,he does not make God almighty,he is the same.Yes Jesus was rightous and free of sin,we have the highest og respect for him.christians assume we have no education on their bible when i fact it is usually the other way around, why does God have to be false because we feel he is great enough to forgive us alone,he is that great

Example: husband and wife are "one". Husband and wife discuss situations and come to some conclusion, pro or con, on the subject. Husband and wife are still "one". Jesus is as one with God as we all are. Prophet, mophet. Words. Get out of religion and into spirituality. The letter (law) kills, it is the spirit that gives live.

No, Jesus is the Son of God, and if you keep looking, theres a passage where he tells the Pharases that he IS God in human form. They were going to stone him but he "knew their thoughts" so he escaped.
Before Jesus died, he told the Apostles to wait in Jerusalem for a gift. Peter the Apostle, didn't wait, decided to go fishing- so did the other apostles.
Anyhow, about 120 days later- known as "Pentacost" Jesus came back in the form of the Holy Spirit, which is actually him.
Confusing, isn't it?

The bible makes it VERY clear that god would not accept human sacrifice to pay for sin. (Deut 12:30-31, 24:16), (Jeremiah 19:4-6)
(Psalm 106:37-38), (Ezekiel 16:20)
So who died on the cross?
If it was Jesus the god, Then how can god die?
If it was Jesus the man, Then all you have is human sacrifice.
