I have just read several of the responses to other questions and I see a recurring theme among some praticipants. Such as the following "Say it with me....REPORTED.....A$$-hole!" by Mr. US of. I used to be a christian and it was exactly this kind of hipocrsy and mean spirited attitude among believers that led me to seek out other answers and now has me as an atheist.
If you are truly trying to be like Jesus then I suggest you try acting more like him. Jesus didn't come to condem the world but to save it.
I have many friends who are still born again christians and although I disagree with them they don't condem me and neither do I condem them.
Take the plank out of your own eye before you start looking for the splinter in someone else's eye.
See the atheist knows more about it than the people who are supposedly living their faith.

Even though the basis of Christianity is animal sacrifice. Even though our God doesn't seem to like blood offerings anymore, isn't the fact that he's a blood offering kind of God run contrary to kindness to animals?

If God, then Jesus Christ is not God but a prophet.

If himself, then he is truly not God.

You can take this question however you want, but I just mean that so many argue about things that they obviously know nothing about.

To be is a Christian is to be not only a believer but a follower of the teaching of Jesus. Jesus implored his followers over and over to follow the golden rule, turn the other cheek, love they neighbor, abandon an eye for an eye, see peacemakers as blessed and to help the poor.

Don't tell me Christians aren't perfect - I don't expect them to be. But if you don't believe in the basic teaching of Jesus - how could you possibly be considered a Christian?

Is it something that our ancestors made up a long time ago to give people answers to diffucult questions, such as Why am I alive? And why does everyone die?

Because if people could not write thousands of years ago, then the story of the bible must have been passed along by word of mouth. And we all know what stories (ie. the game telephone) will change the more it is passed on. So by the time someone actually writes thier version down, dont you think these stories would have changed drastically?

Or is it just because it doesn't agree with their story book? Or are they just too ignorant to find out for themselves to they just listen to the guy in church? And don't say there is no proof as there is I've put it all nicely on my website http://www.saynotojesus.tk
Oh and if you are going to call it a theory remember you believe in the creation STORY meaning it is even less likely to contain any truth.

In it, we where in a computer class we had shared, and he was extremely red in the face and was sweating horribly.(hair was matted etc) in it I went up to him and told him people were saying that he was dead. And then he simply looked at me and told me "don't believe everything you hear"

Thoughts?

Do my thoughts affect the world around me and alter their molecular structure? If I were attempting to do this with others and understood symbolic concepts could we do it on a greater scale? Could a group get together and manifest diseases here on earth because they altered some vibrational field and allowed it to enter through the emergence of two separate realities to connect. Is this how things are summoned? Could we also pull heaven through this inter-dimensional portal of focsed intent and physically create it with our bodies? Just a thought that just came to me when I opened my beer.

Priests, Rabbis, "Youth Pastors" etc. all professions with an unusually high number of Pedophiles and pederasts. Are the numbers for Sports coaches as high? It would stand to reason that any job with access to kids would attract these pervs, but it seems like Religion has some sort of multiplying effect. Like they can commit their acts and then get absolution, forgiveness etc. What do you think?

when I sing and praise God during worship, it seems so superficial to the point where I'm not even thinking about the words. I know worship is something we do everyday with our lives, but specifically about singing worship is what I'm inquiring about. I know God deserves our praise and we are made to worship Him, so it's only right I come with the right heart when I sing...

why is it that some Christians seem to be much more concerned, even obsessed, with it than most Jews or Muslims?

(At least, this is the perception that I have based on my encounters with members of each of these three faiths.)
