why is it that some Christians seem to be much more concerned, even obsessed, with it than most Jews or Muslims?
(At least, this is the perception that I have based on my encounters with members of each of these three faiths.)

I did not mean to imply that other religions do not have similar beliefs, but I was not making the stretch to go beyond the three Abrahamic faiths because I am unsure how many people are familiar with the other major religions.

Probably because most Christians believe that we are currently living in the "End Times" and the Jews and Muslims do not necessarily think the end of the world is coming soon.
Read Daniel, from the Old Testament and Revelation, from the New Testament. You will find they point to the current time as probably being the days shortly before the Anti-Christ makes his appearance and the Tribulation begins.
Believe it or don't believe it. We will all find out who's right soon enough.

All 3 religions have commonalities with Zorasterism that predates Christianity and Islam. Zorasterism was strong on a 1 god idea and a believe that you would be weighed after death on the merits of your deeds during life. Also, the pharoah Akenaten developed the idea of a monotheiastic god about the time that the ancient Hebrews were in Egypt, prior to their exodus to Caneen during the reign of Ramses II; could the ancient Isrealites have devleloped the one god concept from their exposure to this idea by the pharoah Akenaten? And perhaps all 3 of these religions are based upon the attempts of a physically impaired pharoah to overthrow the monopoly of power that was controlled by the priests of Amon by developing the concept of a solitary god?

Because Jews have a traditional look on their religion--what God did 4,000 years ago and the like. Muslims have a current view of their religion--what can I do for Allah now to make sure I get into heaven? And Christianity..we Christians have a blessed hope, a future to look forward to!

Zoroastrians also have eschatology beliefs
but besides that I have seen Jews and Muslims also obsessed with the end of the world.
but if I were to take a guess it might be that they have so much more ways to connect with G-d now (though the performance of their laws) and the end of days is a dream not something to pin your entire focus of your life.

it really is an rather extensive question. Atheism actually skill 'without god' and considering that maximum human acts of devastation were in the call of one god or yet another, this may recommend that they're a lot less risky than those with a faith. in case you imagine about it in a better precis way, atheism promotes loose wondering and the alternative to trust what you choose without the fear of someone telling you what's ideal with none evidence. in this way, many faiths actually promote lack of understanding over understanding. (The reasoning at the back of this lays with early society people attempting to variety a doable society that applications properly mutually. faith is an rather useful thanks to attempt this, hence why there are such countless similarities between them). So counting on what you recommend with suggestions from damage, in early human society atheism ought to were better negative to the progression of the human race yet in modern situations (the terrific one hundred fifty years or so) faith is dropping its position in present day society.

If one can't accept the world as it is, it's natural to think of it as bad and that it must end.
