There are varying opinions on whether or not G-D and Jesus are the same. There are even varying opinions on whether the G-D of the Old Testament (OT)is the same as the G-D of the New Testament (NT).

In the OT, G-D is seen as vengeful and punishing. However, in the NT, he's kind, caring and seeks full redemption of his people. Probably the best answer I can offer is that while G-D of the OT set out certain laws for his people to follow, Jesus of the NT came to fulfill these laws, therefore essentially creating a reconciliation between sin and salvation.

If you notice, in the OT, there's a lot of judgement and brimstone. However, canonical Christian texts have Jesus saying that our final judgement will come in the next life. While we can't be sure, I choose to believe that the biblical Jesus' salvation called for the end of judgement until another time.

See God promised abraham the first jew .. that his decendants would be like the sand and the stars.. that there would be as many .. and that his decendants would be blessings to the whole world!! kings and great men of God and that some one special would come from his descendants.. Now.. abraham was old and he as all children of God (all people) didnt trust God for it.. At the time of the Old Testament, God did an alliance with Israel as His Holy Nation and protected it of its enemies. That was the old alliance. It was other time.

Now God makes the new alliance with all mankind, all people who want to be save, it's an enlargement of the old alliance to all people who want to follow Him. This enlargement is 'cause of His Giant Love. God is One in Love: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. He did the old alliance, now the new one He wants all mankind to be His Holy Nation.
