If God, then Jesus Christ is not God but a prophet.

If himself, then he is truly not God.

According to the doctrine of the Trinity, God eternally exists as three distinct yet co-equal persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

Jesus is God the Son, not God the Father -- so if God the Son, as man, prays to God the Father, there is no contradiction.

Jesus was praying to God, just as we all do...and he was not praying for his own salvation, because he already knew what the outcome would be...Jesus was indeed a prophet (or psychic) of his time...he also had the gift of knowing who & what he truly was, an undying spirit entity...what he was praying for was for the people who were involved in the ordeal...those that crucified him--he knew that they, too, were spirit entities helping him to fulfill his course of that lifetime ("I send you nothing but angels.")...and for those that would grieve & misunderstand the purpose of what he was going through...he prayed for them to see the reality of who & what they were in the process.

No, Jesus is not God...simply a part, of which we all are.

No no no.... Jesus prayed to God the FATHER. Jesus and the Father are God. So is the Holy Ghost.

Think of it like this.... Ice, water and steam... ALL are WATER but each are different.

So Jesus prayed to the Father in heaven. Jesus is still God.

He was talking to the Father, this does not invalidate His deity, it simply showed the frailty of His human side. Prayer is simply conversation with God and Jesus was suffering from the weight of His burden, the fact that He was able to endure it was a reflection of His deity since no man could have undergone that and not sinned.

Dear HashimanS: Indeed! Jesus prayed to God in the Garden of Gethesemane. He considers Himself to be a Teacher. He says, " You should experience awe only in the presence of the Creator. . .Equals should not be in awe of one another because awe implies inequality. It is therefore an inappropriate reaction to me. An elder brother is entitled to respect for his greater experience, and obedience for his greater wisdom. He is also entitled to love because he is a brother, and to devotion if he is devoted. It is only my devotion that entitles me to yours. There is nothing about me that you cannot attain. I have nothing that does not come from God. The difference betweeen us now is that I have nothing else. This leaves me in a state which is only potential in you." ". . . I am higher because without me the distance between God and man would be too great for you to encompass. I bridge the distance as an elder brother to you on the one hand, and as a Son of God on the other. My devotion to my brothers has placed me in charge of the Sonship."

To his father in heaven. God consists of three parts: Father (Mother?), Son, and Holy Spirit. Let's say that there are three brothers with the last name "Smith." Now, if I were to say "Smith told Smith that he was going to the store today," it wouldn't be talking to himself, he would be talking to the other Smith. God is an umbrella term, but also refers to the Father (Mother?) portion.

I dont think he praye for salvation from the cross. When Jesus prayed, he was just talking to His father. Much like we do today.

Have you ever laid in bed in the morning not wanting to get up and go to work (school)? So you try and talk yourself into a way to get out of it? Same thing.
