Like if you ask an atheist to prove god isn't real they give you reasons but when you ask a religious person to prove it they just don't seem to be able to besides saying the bible says so?

personally i believe that some of the stories may or may not have happened and many have been exaggerated. however i do feel that it is not important to argue over whether or not it actually happened but to focus on the message.

i would like to tell all you extremeists a little story about not taking what wou read too literally.

the wisest of all rabbis, Hillel, was approached by a roman soldier. mockingly the soldier told him to teach the entire torah standing on one foot. being the man that he was Hillel raised one foot and said this "be good to one another, all the rest is explanation".

I asked a question about the Holy Spirit 30 minutes ago, and it seems that people are hostile. My question is why wasnt the holy spirit present before jesus's crucifixion. Now I'm aware of pentecost, and I also know all about Jesus's baptism, and the spirits descent as a dove. Obviously the Holy Spirit is alpha and omega as the father and son are. In John chapter 7:39, it says "By this he meant the spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified." My question is why was the Holy Spirit not sent until after the crucifixion?

I have had many people ask me if I was a Christian. This happened to me tonight when a man came in to the emergency room. He had been in there before and became combative , had to be maced and had to be taken out by the police. He had froth comming from his mouth and appeared to be unconcious. I simply touched him to do a proceedure and he looked at me and said, "Are you a christian?" I replied" yes." How can you tell?" He said, "I can feel it". Then he asked me to pray for him as he said he was afflicted. I told him I would fast and pray for him the next two days.

This question isn't intended as an antagonism or an attack on anyone's beliefs. Rather, I am curious as to how religion can repudiate, cogently, such overwhelming evidenciary support for evolution.

Everybody on earth dies and goes to heaven. God comes and says, "I want the men to make two lines. One line for the men that dominated their women on earth and the other line for the men that were dominated by their women. Also, I want all the women to go with St. Peter."
With that said and done, the next time God looked, the women are gone and there are two lines. The line of the men that were dominated by their women was 100 miles long, and in the line of men that dominated their women, there was only one man.
God got mad and said, "You men should be ashamed of yourselves. I created, you in my image and you were all whipped by your mates. Look at the only, one of my sons that stood up and made me proud. Learn from him! Tell them my son, how did you manage to be the only one in this line?"
And the man replied, "I don't know, my wife told me to stand here."
haha its a joke i'm not in a serious mood tonight

I'm not trying to sound mean or disrespectful, this is a serious question. If someone finds out that they are turned on by the same sex and not the opposite, but if they try to keep those feelings from turning into actions, can they still go to heaven because they tried to be good?

What can believers do to be more effective at leading towards the most noble of moral outcomes?

For the Ark to be true, it was made of wood because that was what they had at the time. For the flood to be true, much of the lands were covered with water. If you know a small amount of physics, there is a property of waves known as “Reach”. It means that if there is no land to absorb a wave’s energy that it will continue to build and get stronger (to a point). If the earth were encased in a flood, then the wave energy would be astounding. So how can a 600-year-old man keep a wooden boat that is over a mile long afloat in a raging sea? Do you still believe in the Ark? If so, help me think otherwise as I think it is impossible. BTW, I also think that divine intervention is a cop-out answer.
