She told me that about two and a half years ago, she went to Germany, and the cross is hand made and has been blessed by some "padres" at the mission

The fact that the cross was blessed means simply that: an ordained Catholic priest said a special blessing over it.

For your mother, her giving you the cross is like her giving you a blessing. She's given you something that she feels is very important and special, and she trusts and loves you.

Depending on your particular belief system, this can mean a variety of things to you... and I'm not going to attempt to guess because that's ultimately up to you.

It means that your mom, sincere in her believe of the intrinsic value of an icon, gave you something of her heart and love. ALthough the icon has no real power of blessing and is part of the idolatry which GOD forbid for the Jews to engage in as contrary to the Second Law or Commandment, to not make graven image, the Catholic Church ignores this Command and utilizes the imagery to bring in money for the RC. Of course, most of the Prostestant relgions also ignore this command with crosses and crucifixes being sold in most Christian stores and shops. Whether blessed or not blessed, by Priests or even the Pope, one should realize, items that are worshipped are not very highly recommended in the Bible. sincerely

It means that the priest said a prayer over it. Many people believe that something is especially holy if it has been blessed. It is simple a matter of faith and belief. It certainly meant something to your Mom and it was a special gift from her to you. Take good care of it for that reason if for no other.

That means that some priests said a prayer over a symbol and commited the sin of making it in their minds into something like a "good luck charm" or an amulet. I don't mean to speak ill of these well meaning souls, but that's the Biblical truth about things like that.

I'm sure that your mother meant it as a symbol of her love and care for you.

It means that it should be honored as a Blessing from God, and good things,
spiritually, financially, etc are directed toward you in this case. Life is about
helping people, including yourself.I don't know your age, but as time goes on you will want to find purpose. You will need Miracles, (they exist) and you will want peace.
Cherish the Cross.

The blessing by the priest is to help one feel physically protected by Gods' love. You really don't need it because He will protect you, but doesn't feel good just to hold something that has been blessed .

It means your mother loves you very much, and I should wear it or hang it in your room as a reminder of that :) ...as for the blessing, I don't think that is as significant.
