For the Ark to be true, it was made of wood because that was what they had at the time. For the flood to be true, much of the lands were covered with water. If you know a small amount of physics, there is a property of waves known as “Reach”. It means that if there is no land to absorb a wave’s energy that it will continue to build and get stronger (to a point). If the earth were encased in a flood, then the wave energy would be astounding. So how can a 600-year-old man keep a wooden boat that is over a mile long afloat in a raging sea? Do you still believe in the Ark? If so, help me think otherwise as I think it is impossible. BTW, I also think that divine intervention is a cop-out answer.

Ahh Raiders.... Have you ever seen Harrison ford with Colista Flockheart? They are the most boring couple ever!

OMG!!!! LOL, A ship made out of balsa wood would last about 2 seconds against a wave that was untamed by land!!! LOL!!! Please, any smart religious people here?

Badong,
Interesting, however your wave logic is flawed. It is true that a wave can be made "powerless" (i.e. cancelled out) when another wave crosses its path. However, that effect is only momentary. The cancellation occurs when wave1's trough crosses the crest of wave2. The net result is no wave (if they are equal in size.) However the energy is still present, and what happens next makes a lot of wake-boarders happy. When wave1's crest crosses the path of wave2's crest (Wake-boarders call this "Doubling up"), the net result is a wave nearly twice as high as either wave.

Wow super literal. I believe there was a flood in biblical times, probably like the Sunami we saw recently in Shri Lanka, maybe even worse and probably the basis of this story. But I don't think biblical writers would have had a firm grasp on the water/land ratios during that time. The point is, I don't think the bible is a literal document. Most was meant to help largely uneducated people understand their spirtuality.

Yes I do believe the Bible speaks of two arks. One is related to a flood and the other is in regards to an agreement or covenant.

I see youmust believe in the flood or you would not have considered the Reach concept. Thus I have aquestion for you.

You are here to ask your question today and I am answering it. How did we get from before the flood to after the flood if there was no ark? Do you have another theory in mind that I have never heard of. If so do contact me and explain, for I always do try to understand the points of others. I do listen OK.

Yes I also do enjoy some physics and I also do own a big beach home on the ocean and spend a lot of time watching the waves. I can see by your stated conclusion you do not.

Waves can be also made poserless by another wave that meets it from another direction. In this case no land mass is involved. When two waves meet head on they rise and then fall back powerless in total confusion.

You must consider that the surface of the globe is not a flat table and that all waves do go forth in all directions from the point of origin.

You smile as you do coinsider this point my friend and maybe spend some time watching the ocean if possible.

There is archaeological evidence of major flooding of the Euphrates river a couple hundred miles south east of Bagdad. Around 2900BC a 6 day storm caused the flooding to go out of control, and a Sumarian king sailed a barge of goods downstream. When he landed, he offered a sacrifice in a hill top temple. The river itself only rose about 25 feet higher than normal, but many people died. The evidence indicates that there were no animal pairs (let alone every animal pair). So at least that much is proven...no divine intervention, no voices from above giving instructions on how to build a boat...just man overcoming nature.

Have you seen the reearch about the collase of the Bosporus? Some folks say that the Black Sea was once completely separated from the Mediterranean by a narrow strip of land. When the glaciers melted at the end of the Ice Age, sea level rose so high that it crested this land and eroded it down in a massive tsunami. So maybe there's some legendary truth to the story of Noah. Perhaps he packed his cattle into a barge and clung to it for dear life. When he landed he told his tale to some guy in a market in Troy and voila! Nine thousand years later we are STILL talking about it.
Maybe it was just God's divine Will that we still remember a courageous farmer who beat the odds...

Sorry, but that's the answer. Noah's ark was made of gopher wood, and the whole earth was covered with water. If what you say is true, about this property of waves called the "Reach", then only God could keep that ark afloat. No man is strong enough to hold back a raging sea of that size.

Sorry if you're disappointed with my answer.

Yes, I beleive in the Ark. When we do what God or his son tells us to do nothing is impossible. By the way the ark was made from Gopher Wood. There are many things that are not scientifically possible but happen none the less. God made the world he can do with as he wishes science or not.

If you believe in God, the answer would be a yes as it floated by the will of God. w00t

Isn't it scary how our little brains except all these stories that were written in the Bible. Maybe because they believe so much of what they see on TV is real that because they saw the movie they just know it has to be true. So if they believe in the Ark then they must believe the rest of the story, that their God murdered everyone on earth except for those on the Ark. Millions of innocent people, old, young, good, bad, and innocent babies. A god with no compassion just drown them all. Thank you again for your impressive comments MYPUBLICIDENT

Where is it now? Why can't we go see it in a museum? Why can't we see the cross Jesus was crucified on? Where is a talking burning bush? Where is the ark of the covenant? If you want to throw the ark out where are the 10 commandments that were supposed to be inside it? Where is the holy grail?

NONE OF THESE EXISTED.

there was a man that took the biblical dimension and building instructions and ran the numbers. he was very detailed. people kept telling him that the design wouldn't work. he sent the design along with all his research to the coast guard. they did some research of there own and after careful analysis of the data gave it approval as a sea going vessel. they put it in the same classification as a barge. ill see if i can find the article.
