i need some help with a burden thats been bothering me. I have been a christian all my life and i think that the bible may of been changed during the years of the inquinsition to make people be feared into believing in god. In my personal opinion i think the main message is true but i think our merciful god wouldnt force us into anything and would have nothing but forgiveness for anyone that believed differently than what the truth is. btw how do we know what to believe since theres so many religions and so many different beliefs? These idea's are tuff to answer but i just need someone's opinion or answer.

God is love, and it is because He first loved us that He sent His only Son to die for us. This should invoke a profound gratitude for what God has done for us.
Regardless of what God has done, however, He is still worthy of our praise simply for who He is. This reverence is sometimes lost in many believers, I think.
Psalm 11:10 says, "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom..." The fear of God is echoed in many scriptural passages. With the predominant message from most pulpits emphasizing the love of God, at least as I have heard, I think we [believers] miss out on understanding, and respecting this healthy fear of God. Perhaps our understanding of who God is gets somewhat contorted. From my experience, developing this respectful fear of God helps me revere the Lord, regardless of what He has done or will do. What do you think?

Just a poll, no religious propaganda here. Who here believes that there is a verse in the Quran that ensures Paradise to those who kill those of other religions?

China is a multi-religious country, where Confucianism,Taoism, Buddhism, Islam and Christianity is practiced. Freedom of belief is a government policy, and normal religious activities are protected by the constitution.

On first acquaintance China's religious life seems complicated and conflicting, with temples full of confusing ornaments and worshippers dividing their devotion between Buddhism, Daoism and Confucianism. In fact, the Chinese have traditionally treated religion as a practical feature of everyday life.

When you see adorer in a temple, praying, lighting joss sticks or shaking fortune-sticks from a canister, you can be fairly sure that they are asking the gods for such benefits as medical help, wealth, the birth of a son and good luck. Although many modern Chinese would deny any religious belief, most of them acknowledge the balancing power of yin and yang, the dark, feminine negative and the light, masculine positive forces that make it possible to accept the bad times along with the good.

Confucianism

Confucianism dated back some two thousand years, despite not being a formal religion is practiced widely throughout the country.Although there are temples and monasteries dedicated to the fifth-century BC sage, Confucius (Kong Zi) is revered not as a god but a great man whose system of ethics shaped Chinese society for many centuries.Confucius believed that a successful society had to be regulated according to duties and privileges, so he devised a hierarchy of responsibility based on social realities. Thus a ruler was to be obeyed but he also had to take care of his people. In like manner, men had moral duties to their wives and children, who responded with loyalty and devotion. Although this could lead to stifling conformity, the system did create a civil service of educated, usually competent and mostly honest men. It also enshrined the practice of filial piety, which was a key factor in both Buddhism and Daoism.

Daoism

While Confucianism satisfied the practical needs of the Chinese, they looked to Daoism for an outlet for their romantic, and superstitious imaginations. Derived from ancient nature worship, Daoism was propagated by Lao Zi,a philosopher of the sixth century BC, who embraced the principles of yin and yang, but added a spirit world of immortal creatures who could intercede for devotees, if they were offered incense and burnt offerings.Daoists believe in the sanctity of all life, and advocate vegetarianism. They extol courage, loyalty and compassion. Among their many deities - most of whom were originally heroic or saintly humans - are Tian Hou, goddess of the sea, Bai Gong, spirit of the north, and Bao Gong, god of justice.

The Taoists aim was to secure and enjoy longevity or to become one of a variety of immortals. This could be achieved through a broad range of measures: medical treatment, sexual practices, breathing techniques, meditation, gymnastics, prayers, communal rites etc. Basically, it was considered necessary to keep the body and its own thousands of gods in harmony with their heavenly counterparts.

Buddhism

Lamaism, a Buddhist sect, has its followers mostly among the Tibetan, Mongolian, Tus and Yugur. Hinayana, or Lesser Vehicle Buddhism, has believers mainly among such ethnic groups as the Bai, Dai, Deang, Achang, Blang, Jingpo and some of the Va.

The arrival of Buddhism in China via the Silk Road in the 2nd century BC, and found a ready public. It attracted scholars with its classical literature and artists with its high regard for sculpture and painting. It also drew those who wanted to renounce the world of the senses in remote monasteries and nunneries, where the faithful could spend his or her years in meditation and prayer.

Other religions:

Among other religions practiced in China, Islam has the greatest number of followers. They are mostly concentrated in the northwest regions of Xinjiang, Ningxia and Inner Mongolia, although there are also Moslem communities in Xian, Beijing and Guangzhou.Islam has a following among ten ethnic groups -- the Hui, Uygur, Kazak, Tatar, Kirgiz, Tajik, Ozbek, Dongxiang, Salar and Bonan.

Christianity never achieved a wide acceptance in China and appealed mostly to Westernized intellectuals.Protestantism found converts among the Miao and Yi, and some ethnic minorities living in western Yunnan. Believers in the Orthodox Eastern Church are found among the small groups of Russian and Ewenki. There are some three million Catholics in China. Most belong to the state-approved church, while a minority recognize the Pope as their leader.

Too many fairy tale belevers get away with telling lies or exagerating the truths. These testimonies or so called miracles are never investigated. So, that leaves a wide open space for lies and exaggerated truths. Nobody's there to pin point the flaws and bullshit because the listener want to believe it's true when it's really not

I am a christian and I have been insulted and acused of all kinds of narrowmindedness. I have been called names and told to stfu. So I am curious about this 'peaceful, loving" religion. I know in the Bible is says that the devil's greatest feat was convincing the world he didn't exsist. If there is no evil enity than where does evil come from? Or is it just plan cool to be evil and say it is just another life style choice. I am honestly interested.

On here there are a bunch of purposely mean and awful questions that mock Christians. But when we post responses like pray or scripture references non-believers get offended and angry at our answers but think it is ok to mock us and abuse our beliefs. So my question is if non-believers don't want our beliefs pushed on them, why do they try to push theirs on us?

I just in the last 15 minutes posted 4 questions on the first 3 verses in the book of John actually questioning the trinity and was called names, told to read the bible, told to study, etc., etc. All but one declared that the trinity was a fact period. I do not mind them having their opinion, but are they to violate their own book and judge another? Just a question based upon my view.

No Brag, just fact I have read 3 different bible translations over 100 times cover to cover and spent the last 23 years in pure intense study. Then I am told to read the bible and study the bible by some who maybe have not ever read it one time cover to cover. In my view it is a very sad condition in the religious world. Am I condemned because I study?

No wonder I refuse to be called a so called Christian and aceept only the name of a "NO". That means I am not like those so called trinity believing christians. I try not to judge others but sometimes I make errors OK. [Maybe a lot of times]

Jewish say they believe the Jewish scriptures -yet our Jewish scriptures over and over point to Jesus as our Messiah.
Muslims say Jesus is the prophet born of a virgin and lived without sin and taken up to heaven-yet they reject his word to let him into their heart-Revelation 1 vs 1 the words of Jesus given from heaven--chapter 3 vs 19&20 states "Behold i stand at your heart door and knock, if u open the door i will come in, deliver from sin, and be your friend. amen
Muslim -Jesus said to love your enemies and give them the gospel with kindness-yet they dont condemn those muslims that believe the koran quran "When u kill certain people you get a special place in heaven...."
Hell is given too Daniel 12 vs 2 "To hell the place of never ending aborance, for rejecting the truth-Isaiah 66 last verse "in hell, where the concience never dies"-John 12 vs 48 "He that rejecteth me and rejecteth my word has one that judges him the words that i have spoken shall judge him in the last day."

Most children with Christian parents are not even given an option

Christianity is the only belief thats presented to them

It's like saying "It's a choice but it you dont choose Christianity, I'll blow your head off"(metaphore for the hell myth)

Christian parents take advantage of their children's brain which is not even developed enough to question Christianity with an open mind

When they become adults, they're already brainwashed and stuck on stupid. A person can't just deprogram himself the minute he turns 18. It doesn't work that way

If a person is raised to be a Christian and is able to question Christianity, he would most likely be bias towards anything that discredits Christianity as a result of being brainwashed

CHRISTIANITY WAS NOT A CHOICE FOR MOST CHRISTIANS.
