Israel has a right to self-defense. You have to remember that Israel is a very small country that is surrounded by Arab countries that would all like to see Israel "wiped off the face of the map". However, I hope that Israel will use prudence before doing anything too extreme with Lebanon. Those Christians are the Maronite Catholics. They are in full communion with Rome. I can imagine that they will be caught in the cross fire. If Hezbollah would return the hostages and stop firing rockets into Israel, then maybe Israel would talk about peace with them. Hezbollah is funded by Iran, so I believe that this is an attempt to take away attention from Iran's nuclear program. I think Iran is the man behind the curtain on this one.

The US was the main country responsible for the creation of Israel as a country.

You believe incorrectly that there are 'so many Christians' in Lebanon. There are many more muslims. Hezbollah is a muslim terrorist organization based in Lebanon. Two members of Lebanon's federal government are Hezbollah but the government denies having any control over Hezbollah.

SELL weapons? We give billions in aid to Israel every year. Doesn't make sense to sell anything to them when we give them more money than we give to any other nation in the world.

Excerpts from a *2002* article on Washington economist Thomas Stauffer's tally of US aid to Israel:

And now Israel wants more. In a meeting at the White House late last month, Israeli officials made a pitch for $4 billion in additional military aid to defray the rising costs of dealing with the intifada and suicide bombings. They also asked for more than $8 billion in loan guarantees to help the country's recession-bound economy.

Israel is the largest recipient of US foreign aid. It is already due to get $2.04 billion in military assistance and $720 million in economic aid in fiscal 2003. It has been getting $3 billion a year for years.>

If Christians are in Lebanon, they better leave. They know what is going on. They need to make a choice, leave or take a chance. period.

A war is not stopped or slowed down because a Christian is in the way. He should not be there to begin with at this point, of the problem. If he remains there, good for him.

Because the US created Israel and they feel it is their job to protect israel. It is not about chirsitians jews or muslims in the case of the US support. However the Jews having been persecuted by both muslims and christians feel it is thier right to try and expand and get back at muslims and christians.

Just because Bush is trying to ruin the US by imposing his screwed up christian views on the US using domestic policy such as pushing for and supporting heterosexual marriage only and lack of stemcell research and abortion; does not mean that he gets us into wars for the same reasons. He gets us into wars because if done right it can be profitable.

There are many Christians in Israel too. We sell weapons to Israel because they are our ONLY dependable ally and ONLY democracy in the Middle East.

I think the US has supported Israel for so long that they just blindly goes on whether Israel is right, wrong or in this case grossly over-reacting. My heart is heavy because George Bush could have asked Israel to cease fire and TALK to UN. We should be telling Israel that we will NOT support them. I as sick at heart over the deaths of innocent citizens.

Selling weapons to Israel doesn't mean we also said, "ok now go kill Christians with these weapons." More likely, the conversation was like, "here are these weapons, now defend yourselves."
