I am a christian and I have been insulted and acused of all kinds of narrowmindedness. I have been called names and told to stfu. So I am curious about this 'peaceful, loving" religion. I know in the Bible is says that the devil's greatest feat was convincing the world he didn't exsist. If there is no evil enity than where does evil come from? Or is it just plan cool to be evil and say it is just another life style choice. I am honestly interested.

My comment was an honest question- I have been nothing but insulted since I have been doing this question and answer thing. Some people do think that if someone doesn't think as they do that they have the right to tell them stfu- which I had to ask what it meant since I didn't know. I respect people from all religions. I myself am a christian with relatives who are jewish( that I love dearly). Anyone who comes to my house gets hug, which have included wiccans. I am tired of the prejudice of my beliefs in schools and the world at large. I believe in love. Love is the HIGHEST law. Above everything. That is what Jesus Christ was all about. The rest we could argue till the end of time.

The Lord and Lady. They are the entities of nature. They keep everything in check and balance. Wiccans, or witches, take and learn how nature work. They try not to upset the balance of creation and destruction. They believe that there is no evil, mostly because what ever they do, comes back 3x3x3. Which is 27 times as bad. So why chance it. But for me, I do not consider my self to be wiccan, more so a very eclectic witch. I believe that there is evil in the world. Look around, and tell me that there isn't evil. Look at the wars, pestilence, and dis pare. I believe that all the Gods and Goddesses, Lords and Ladies, are all the same duo. I feel that the Christian God, has a female counter part, and I feel like I am understanding what they are wanting me to know.

When it comes to "peace and love" it isn't just a religion, its the heart in behind who is practicing their religion. If you are questioning your faith, think real hard. Pray for guidance. If you are wanting to change your path, pray. Cause this may not be the path for you. I choose my path for many reasons, but I still hold on to many practices that my family had taught. Wiccan or Christian or Muslim or Jew, we bleed, we laugh, we cry. We all have the same emotions. We go thru the same Ideas and principles, true some are more radical than others, but we have one goal. To have peace, love, and harmony with in our lives, and when we die, we want to have made a difference in someones life. We want to have purpose.

Hi,
Let me start off by saying that I'm sorry that you feel such anger and have been offended so badly.

The lady and her lord, the Goddess and the God is one and the same. They are the same, equal yet different. Kind of like your christian trinity if you will. They have no creator, no one made them. They are and have always been, existing before the very beginning of the cosmos. To Wicca, the Goddess is the creator of everything, just like your God is the creator of everything in your belief. And yes, it is a nature-based religion. We see the divine in all that is around us and in us. We see the Goddess in everything that is inherent to our life, the trees that give us shade, the water that nourishes our bodies, the food that sustains us... I could go on but for the sake of keeping this some what short I won't. Just like christians have their 10 commandments, Wicca has their Rede, which is a guideline to living their life. One of the main concepts is 'Harm None', something every religion should practice. Wicca also believes in tolerance of all religions, another thing all religions should do.

As far as the devil is concerned, that is a strictly christian concept. Wiccans don't hold to the belief of a devil. Evil comes from within the hearts of evil humans, not some entity that tricks and misleads us. It is up to each and every human being to be as good a person as they can. And NO, is isn't cool to be evil. There is good and evil in ALL religions, regardless what you may think.

Now, if you sincerely want to learn more about Wicca, try checking out the book Wicca and Living Wicca by Scott Cunningham. They are both good books and very easy to understand and read.

If you want to talk more, feel free to message me. If not, then I pray that the Goddess gives you the knowledge you need and the peace in your heart you deserve. Brightest blessings.

The Lord and Lady are the masculine and feminine aspects of the Higher Power - they are not separate individuals independent of each other. They didn't "come from" the Creator because they are part of the Creator.

We revere and honor nature by recognizing that the Divine exists in everything - trees, plants, animals, people, etc. That's not to say that the trees ARE the Divine, rather that they have the Divine *IN* them. I don't honor my trees "because they're trees" - I honor them because they are a part of divinity.

Where does evil come from? I believe it comes from within ourselves. We have ultimate responsibility for our actions, without the excuse of "Someone else made me do it". When a lion kills an antelope, is that "evil"? No, it's an action done in order to survive. Human beings have the ability to make choices, but with that ability comes great responsibility. And the fruits your actions and your choices come back to you.

The Wiccan Rede says "An it harm none, do what ye will". That means that you have to think about what you're doing and its ramifications - not just on yourself, but on the people around you, and the world around you. And if you decide to go ahead and do something even though you know that it will do harm to someone else, you'd best be prepared for the return that will come.

By the way, I would recommend that if you are looking for honest, open answers, you don't formulate your questions with insults such as "Or is it just plan cool to be evil and say it is just another life style choice" in them. You were doing just fine up to that last sentence.
