How can one seek spiritual guidance for use of his extrodinary Gifts

From the way they describe Jesus, their views would conflict his. Think about it: Would Jesus support Fundamentalist extremism or would he spread love and forgiveness? Would he dump on homosexuals, or would he fight for their rights as human beings? Would he picket abortion clinics, or would he comfort a woman in need of such a procedure? Would he be complaining about alcohol or would he be drinking it with his friends?

In John 8:4 Jesus was brought a woman caught in adultery. Rather than condemn her, he forgave her and said the only people allowed to condemn her were the ones who had never sinned. No one condemned her that day. In John 4:7 Jesus encounters a prostitute at a watering well. Rather than judge her harshly for her sins, he asked her for a cup of water and gave her comfort for the mistakes in her life. And in Matthew 11:19 Jesus was called a drunkard for drinking wine in the homes of local crooks and thieves. Guess the fundies are going to "hell" for not following Jesus.

She asks why, and we told her that we are not Christian. She keeps asking "But aren't you going to raise your daughter as a Christian?". She doesn't seem to understand that since we are not Christian, we would prefer not to raise out daughter as one. We live in fly-over land where people are pretty much just considered Christian by default.

We are agnostic.

I want to know why a Mormon cannot answer a ? for themselves with out going to their parent, bishop etc, and why when you ask them a ? they get defensive like, "why do you go to church for 4 hours?" and why if they are so loving does the church tell it's members not to talk to family mmbers and friends that disgree with the religion or question it?
I am speaking from experience here. All the above I have asked.
The first I never got an answer to when I asked a person I know well what she really believed she said she would have to have her mother tell me.
I am christian and if you ask me what I believe, I will tell you. you may not agree but at least I can tell you.
I asked another person what they do for all that time and they got mad, would not talk to me. I did not imply anything I simply asked "what do you do there all that time?"
The last one,
I lost a good friend to this religion because when I asked her about ?ble things her bishop told her to not talk to me anymore.

What else shouldn't people do?

Don't let cattle graze with other kinds of Cattle (Leviticus 19:19)

Don't have a variety of crops on the same field. (Leviticus 19:19)

Don't wear clothes made of more than one fabric (Leviticus 19:19)

Don't cut your hair nor shave. (Leviticus 19:27)

Any person who curseth his mother or father, must be killed. (Leviticus 20:9) Have you ever done that?

If a man cheats on his wife, or vise versa, both the man and the woman must die. (Leviticus 20:10). I wonder if Dr. Laura would like that one to be enforced?

If a man sleeps with his father's wife... both him and his father's wife is to be put to death. (Leviticus 20:11)

If a man sleeps with his wife and her mother they are all to be burnt to death. (Leviticus 20:14)

If a man or woman has sex with an animal, both human and animal must be killed. (Leviticus 20:15-16). I guess you should kill the animal since they were willing participants. Are they crazy?

How many of you were brought up in one faith and had that hammered into your brains that that was the one and only "true" path - only now to find themselves questioning and searching? How many feel guilt about doing so? Do you have an experience to share on this subject? Thanks!

Since the show Big Love came out, I've noticed that there's been a lot of media coverage of plural marriage. Then the FBI pur Warren Jeffs on the 10 Most Wanted List. Has anyone had experience in a Morman group that recognizes plural marriage and/or been part of a plural marriage family? It wasn't somthing I thought about before, but watching that show made me think about the belief and wonder how "real" people deal with the lifestyle. Thanks for sharing.

Is the prohibition on alcohol and caffeine in the scripture (Book of Mormon?) or is it just a custom in your religion? If in scripture, where?

We treat people with hormone deficiency all the time, why does it seem far fetched that effeminate males are in need of testosterone or manly women in need of estrogen. This of course are for the ones who act either effeminate from an early age or manly.

Maybe society is forcing them into homosexuality by telling them you are effeminate or manly therefore you need to be with your own sex. Should we not try to treat it as hormone deficiency? I could be right.
